Posted in: Japan, U.S. defense chiefs affirm Senkakus fall under security pact See in context

Finally, a chance at a US administration that might be willing to stand up to the dictatorships that run China, Russia, North Korea, et al. I do not have high hopes, but at least, unlike Trump, who worshipped and envied commie dictators like Xi, Putin, and Kim-fat, there is the slim possibility that America's current leadership will not bow down to such forces as readily as the Turmpettes...

Funny how after advocating the betrayal of American ideals and failing in the attempted violent overthrow of a democratically-elected government, Cruz et al. want to ignore their lies and whirlwind, and think "we should just move on" ...

Posted in: Tokyo District Court upholds ban on dual citizenship See in context

The situation is silly. Japan has tons of people with dual nationality and it is completely legal. If you had dual nationality before 1985, you still have it. And it is legal. Seeing as how all the legal dual nationals have not destroyed Japan or broken the system, it makes no sense that people born after 1985 cannot be a citizen of multiple countries. Stupid and arbitrary.

Posted in: Oaths questioned as Trump's backers fight against loss See in context

Typical silliness. One's decision to act in a certain manner based on their belief in a god does not abrogate their other obligations. If one breaks their extant oaths based upon a farcical aquatic ceremony, they have still broken their oaths. If one decides that their religion demands they kill their wife for coveting someone else's oxen, they still go to prison for murder. If one swears to uphold the constitution of the USA and chooses not to do so because a god told them to, they will be in great with their god but still on trial as an oath-breaker. One can stack their duties higher than a Texan steer, but they still go to the pokey for shop-lifting even if a god told them it was the right thing. Moreover, these are voluntary oaths at point. If one volunteers to make an oath they cannot keep, they are going to the place with pitchforks and flames, not harps halos and potted plants.

Posted in: Oaths questioned as Trump's backers fight against loss See in context

One can swear or affirm on anything and nothing. The text is immaterial. It is the act itself that binds one legally. Just like in certain contracts that can be legally binding, your word is your bond. The book doesn't matter, crossed fingers don't matter. Anyone who swears or affirms to uphold the constitution cannot "get out of it" because they were winking. Welcome to the real world, not the Trump/Hannity world. One is measured by their word and to break one's word or lie has consequences, legally so depending on the context.

Posted in: Trump has discussed pardoning himself, source says See in context

Dream on. Self-pardon is such a ludicrous concept from a legal stand-point. He can surround himself with as many on-their-way-to-being-disbarred lawyers as he likes. From a constitutional and, more importantly, a judicial angle, the concept is non-sensical to the point of not being debated. E.g. Trump can kill Pence for fun and then pardon himself. Not happening. There are no degrees... all or nothing. Oh, and he just through the one vice-president under the bus who could have pardoned him...

Posted in: In recorded call, Trump pressures Georgia official to 'find' votes to overturn election See in context

I guess, dissatisfied with the lack of voter fraud and the lack of traction of his lies with reasonable persons of any stripe, the president of the USA is attempting to drum up a little voter fraud of his own. One cannot imagine that this will decrease democratic turnout in Georgia.

Posted in: Cruz leads Republican drive to object to Biden's win See in context

So... no credible source disputes the complete lack of fraud in the election. Conservatives, president's own officials, etc. all agree no fraud. These people simply do not want democracy. They want tyranny. Disgusting.

The CCP claims all of these waters and Taiwan are an integral part of China... so how, exactly can these people be arrested for crossing any border? No exactly shocking hypocrisy from one of the worst dictatorships on earth.

Posted in: Unplanned pregnancies occurring among teens, young women during pandemic See in context

More sex is great news, so long as the parties are consenting. Japan needs a lot more sex going on in the teenage and old crowd. More pregnancies are great news, but only if wanted. Best to go with protection if one is in doubt about hat they want at any point in life. Pity about the almost exclusively negative lean of the article. While the negative issues raised are reasons for concern and should not be taken lightly, a little bit more about people enjoying sex together during trying times would be nice.

Well, if the rubric is "how many Chinese were killed by a government" ... as atrocious as the war crimes committed by Japan in Nanjing were, they are a blip on much smaller blip on the radar when compared to haw many tens of millions of Chinese lost their lives to the CCP. But what can one expect from a totalitarian state responsible killing more humans than any government on earth? The Japanese army was horrible and inhuman, the Communist Party of China is and continues to be much, much worse... but I do not think the CCP is "looking forward" to that...

Posted in: Trump lashes out at Supreme Court, Barr as efforts to overturn election fizzle See in context

Not shocking to see such behavior by an ignorant, entitled, bullying megalomaniac or even the mindless followers, but that a significant number of supposedly mainstream politicians and media parrots attempted to undermine and overthrow a constitutional democracy is unsettling. Now they get to go about lining their pockets, business as usual, and distancing themselves... all with loads of failed coup all over their faces.

Posted in: Supreme Court rejects Texas lawsuit and Trump bid to overturn election loss See in context

The only irregularities about this election were the number of Republicans willing to come out of the the commie/dictator closet and essentially support a dictatorship of a failed minority over democratic norms. Even the extremely right-wing, ideologically-politicized supreme court would not entertain for a moment the Putin/Mao approach to government openly advocated by the Republican party and its followers. The worst part is that they lost fair and square to the Democratic party, itself a gaggle of weaklings and hypocrites. Ugh.

Posted in: Texas gets support from 17 states in bid to help Trump overturn election loss See in context

Not like it is surprising, but sad to see most of the republican party come out of the closet in favor of authoritarianism and sadly teaching it to the ignorant masses. Typical commie approach from Trotsky to Stalin. Ask your trumpette if they would prefer a Trump dictator for life and no more independent judiciary and you will get an unqualified "heil!"

The democrats suck for always failing to wield the power given by the electorate. Weak and lame, but still American The republicans of now, including major players in the senate and media, wholly embrace a dictatorship. And they claim to believe in the constitution... a product of the liberal education of the brightest of the enlightenment. Argh. Sad fate in the long run for America.

So much unnecessary drama... but what can one expect from a self-loathing loser? Even with its foibles, the USA, its institutions, and its constitution will survive Trump and his Putin-worshipping ilk. It will be an ugly time of wallowing and empty litigations, but unlike most wannabe dictators, most judges, even conservative ones, respect the USA and the constitution. Embarrassing for the Americans to suffer such a public flame-out... but, unfortunately for Trump and his swamp-rats, they are trash in the face of America's tradition of liberty and justice.

Posted in: Trump faces long odds in challenging vote counts; McConnell says it is OK for Trump to fight See in context

Shameless use of the courts, but both the Democrats and the Republicans have done that too much. Still, seeing as how Trump's position is universally recognized by anyone not spineless as completely baseless... it will be a nasty but eventually pointless stain on democracy in general. He lost, no-one cheated, and he can whine and litigate people's pockets full of cash but he will be gone and the USA will survive him like it did the USSR.

Posted in: A worried Asia wonders: What will Joe Biden do? See in context

Just like all of his predecessors, he will fail to take real action and cut all trade with the CCP and any country who trades with the CCP... which is exactly what the world should do. From Trumps "currency manipulator day one" lies to Clinton's recognition of a one-China policy, it has all been fake distractions so USA companies can make money while it is good... horrible for freedom-loving people and great for dictators like the CCP movers and killers.

The worst of it is countries in Asia making an issue of it. From Japan to Taiwan, to fill-in-the-blank... all they want to do is make money off of the tyranny of the CCP... and they whine about the USA's intentions. When Japanese companies refuse to do business in mainland China, then they should rightly question the USA's lack of moral leadership...
