While I blame the mother in all this...when I was 14 I took care of my 3 younger siblings on a constant basis when my parent was away working. A 14 year old is more then capable of babysitting 1 small child. Unless that 14 year old paid more attention to her needs and completely neglected her little sister. Just like her mom did to them. Like mother like child, I suppose.

Posted in: Standing up to pee 'a matter of honor' for one man See in context

It doesn't matter if you pee standing up or sit down. It doesn't make you less of a man since you shit sitting down. It's all in the mindset of the guy. If the guy thinks it's degenerating to him as a man to pee sitting down...that guy has some serious issues…

Also, what matters here is common courtesy. If you're going to be a dick and not clean up after yourself, well...you probably don't clean up after yourself when you brush your teeth, or shave, or finish a meal, etc.

@ Pidestroika... You can't pee standing up if you have an erection... It doesn't matter if you sit or stand, you still have to intervene physically to pee... Do you not know you're own anatomy?

And for all saying that this is a "noble" gesture, it's NOT. It's selfish. He didn't consider the family's feelings, his friends, his teachers. He could have done something about the closure when he was a live...like rallied people together and protested. This is a selfish act. Throwing your life away, instead of using it to actually make a difference.

Another day in Japan another suicide. This is very sad...but happens too frequently w/out anybody doing anything about it.

...wait...so why is she apologizing? Why is she making this everybody's business? You had sex. That's what people do. That's what animals do. You're 20 you're not a kid, you having sex doesn't automatically make you become a woman... WTF is wrong with these no talent AKB48 morons?!

Posted in: Increasing number of Japanese men opt for bachelorhood See in context

This is ridiculous. You know who you'll be marrying. It's not like you will not know what you'll be getting into. There is this called dating and getting to know the other individual. Most of the people who complain about marriage are the ones who rushed into them after just under 1 year of being with that person. They probably didn't even live with that person. If you get into a bad marriage it's your own damn fault so stop complaining, unless you like that sort of sadistic thing. Which is a completely different story...

Reminds me when people "predicted" that Mt. Rainier will erupt...we're still waiting... Reminds me when people claimed that the end of the world will be at Dec 21 2012....we're still here... Reminds me when we had that Y2k scare...planes didn't fall from the sky...

@ Nippon Nation

Well yes, and Japanese people like to over exaggerate things. Still can’t believe that some Japanese individuals think that Fukushima is A LOT worse than Chernobyl… No Japan…if Godzilla were to happen, it would be from Ukraine. Sorry.

Posted in: What single women in their 40s want out of life See in context

It's a stigma. Is it an isolated incident in Japan? No. I just don't like how people corrilate marriage with happyness. I don't like how people pay more attention to single women in their 40's like is an some horrifying thing, while for men in their 40's and who are single doesnt' get as much attention.

As far as leaching off of people, in general it's wrong...but hey...look at the damn economy. Maybe there are reasons behind it. And if those are single career women...they have money...so they're not leaching, in fact I think it's safe to assume that maybe they're helping their parents? Wasn't it old tradition in Japan where the childeren grow up and take care of their aging families? If this article was about leaching single women, it wouldn't have had the word "career".

Posted in: Democratic senators want ban on assault weapons See in context

...um, banning assult weapons wont make a difference. A hand gun would do as much dmg, it would just take longer to reload. Ugh, I don't want to think about this....

I think what we REALLY need is educating people. If you want a weapon, ANY fire arm you have to go through a class. I have a fire arm, the amo, weapon itself, and the keys to the two locations are seperated. Since I'm the registered owner of the gun I and only I know where those locations are. People know I have a firearm, they just don't know where it is but know it's under lock and key.

And people who say we don't need guns. Well, you don't need a gun sure but more likely than not the person who is assulting you has one. I really would love to live in an era where we don't need guns...but realisticly...

Posted in: AKB48 pair Itano, Shinoda appear in most TV commercials in 2012 See in context

@ Fadamor - I LOL'd at that one. There are SO many talent critics on this site declaring that people have "no talent" that I fully expect that they're going to start their own Japanese "X-Factor" TV show.

You don't have to be a talent critic to know that singing through your nasal cavity with a high pitched voice trying to sound 15 when you're in your mid 20's is atrocious...

I'm not saying that Japan doesn't have talented vocalists, Utada for instance is amazing, but she's not televized as much as ugh..."these" girls. Why? Cuz she doesn't sound like she's 12...and doesn't look it...
