Posted in: 72-year-old man arrested for assaulting daughter-in-law, says he was fed up with her attitude See in context

I think that the old guy should be punished in accordance with the local law. Violence is always unacceptable, especially agains a woman. At the same time I think that she should pack up and leave. She should move out of that house immediately, without leaving behind anything that belongs to her, especially that shitty attitude of hers.

Bail money do come back also under Japanese bail system...provided you don't lose your mind before the end of the ordeal...

保釈保証金は戻ってきますか?

逃亡などをすることなく無事に裁判を終えた場合には,執行猶予のときはもちろん,たとえ実刑判決であっても保釈金は戻ってきます。

Posted in: Japanese money in offshore tax havens could solve a lot of problems at home See in context

200 trillion yen do not generate 60 trillion of tax for the Government. Let me try to elaborate on my assertion : even in the case of the most optimistic of the possible investment example in Japan you would only get about 7 to 8% return on your investment. For the sake of the example let's be even more optimistic and imagine an investment able to generate a 10% return on the initial invested capital. 10% on 200 trillion = 20 trillion taxable income (dividend). For investment gains like in the case of dividends your broker is requested by the Japanese Government to strip you dividend of a 20% tax (Shotoku-zei & Jumin-zei) before you even see any of your money. So 20% on 20 trillion yen is 4 trillion yen. Recap: bringing home (Japan) 200 trillion yen would at most generate 4 trillion yen a year in income and local Council tax revenue for the Government, definitely not 60 trillion a year.

Posted in: Man arrested for killing 86-year-old man on Jan 1 See in context

The old Romans used to say " In vino veritas " meaning that drunk people reveal their true state of mind. I can only assume that, because of his loneliness, the victim was sort of trapped into this "friendship" .

True love is about wishing the good of the other. Even if your partner doesn't wanna be with you anymore. Anything other than that is just plain selfishness.

Helping people in need is always a good thing to do. Don't know how ? Just ask them " How are you ? " A toothless smile can be surprisingly heart warming and inspiring.

If you ever see me entering in one of these "cafes" please stop me and gently slap me "Benny Hill style" toward the nearest "Kaiwa-school" where, on the other hand, you get paid to talk to women.

I hope the judge asks "The Maedas" to repay the hotel. Since they seem to like the place so much perhaps they could work off their debt at the hotel they know so well.

Posted in: Bank of Japan cuts economic growth, inflation view See in context

I thought that the Japanese Government (Abe) wanted to prop inflation in order to keep under control the monstrous National debt. [ n (trillion yen of debt) - 2% ( "thanks" to inflation) = a lot less national debit "magically" disappearing ]

Tax more the "filthy" rich, tax less the average Joe (Taro), real tax brakes for families with kids and free decent kindergarden . Actually you could put the still "genki" elders who want to help in charge of the free kindergarden. I think that somewhere in the US are already trying something like this.

Posted in: Shin-Koiwa Station going all out to prevent human injury and death See in context

To ensure zero falling from platforms the only solution is installing home doors. From time to time we might have to "endure" the occasional delay because the train has to go back to the exact spot to safely open its doors, but it's all for everybody's good. I remember when last summer year a young expecting mother passed out on a platform with no home doors. From the video footage we could see that she clearly fainted and her body was on the platform while her head was just hanging towards the tracks. Home doors would have saved her life. Let's stop the selfish comments and get these home doors installed, please.

I often feel unsafe when I have to walk on the streets where there is no sidewalk. So many of them, and so many potential psychos driving around. But in this case the father and the kids where walking on the sidewalk. I hope they'll get better soon. The driver needs some good old therapeutic rear kicking !

If the parents cannot cope with the kids they should think giving them up for adoption before hurting them. I know that many people are looking forward to adopting babies and give them a family and a chance in life. I know it because I'm one of them.

I think they should rename both the "carer" figure and the "facility" with something more appropriate and in line with the forceful manners and strict rules implemented. I'd rather be alone in my home that mistreated in one of these "facilities" .

Freedom of expression is so important that has to be protected even when it offends somebody. We must never force or threaten people in order to make them respect something or someone. Respect has to come from within a person, respect must not be pounded into a person's mind.

What kind of people would want to scare you into respecting them ?...Good people ?
