Would it have something to do with another bloody operation he had earlier in life, most likely not performed in a medical facility?

Explanation is necessary. Why is the boy wearing a transparent plastic bag and playing with toilet paper?

Mixed feelings. The car looks really nice, but I don't want to see the guy inside.

It does have a Japanese to English option.

Funny thing is - all the photos in the article are from Word Lens, an app that has existed for two years or so and is NOT the google translate.

Can anyone tell me if it's really possible to find clothes "made in Japan"?

@koiwaicoffee, check out Mode-off, second-hand shops and boutiques. Look for things that look out of date.

Posted in: No. of flu patients soars across Japan See in context

Got that flu. Started with a headache and bad stomach. Raspy throat, joint pains and fever came later. I slept for two days, woke up only to eat something and take drugs.

Don't get the flu. Flu bad. Avoid.

Agreed about masks - they're a horrible nuisance and only give sick people an excuse to get on the crowded train and come to work, spread the germs. (Like I did.)

Posted in: Do you agree with Sony Pictures' decision to cancel the Dec 25 U.S. release of the film "The Interview" after threats from a hackers' group? See in context

I see hackers as masked (not revealing their identities) and armed (threatening Sony as a company and its employees) individuals, @scipantheist. Sony Studios is in pretty big trouble. I'd be surprised if they recover enough to make another Spider-Man movie.

It's not like they had much of a choice. They got totally pwned by the hackers. Leaked emails, passwords, personal information, unreleased movies. Getting out of this crisis will cost them a ton of money and the hackers said it wasn't all. If Sony did release the movie, many of their employees could be at risk of losing their private savings and credit card information.

If you walk into a bank and there's a masked, armed individual inside, you don't complain that the bank is halting operation, do you?

Posted in: 'Black companies' getting worse See in context

It's never so simple, @ConnorH93.

Team effort is a really strong motivator in Japan. If you going home meant others having to do the work for you, would you go home? How would you feel if your coworker died of exhaustion while you chilled at home? If only you had stayed half an hour longer...

Sense of hierarchy and unwillingness to stand out prevent employees to resist oppression as a group. Japanese harmonious society is a beautiful thing, but so often, so easily abused by those in power.

I don't support the hackers' methodology, whether they do or don't come from North Korea, but they ARE trying to point out a problem and we're missing it.

Freedom of expression doesn't mean freedom from consequences.

Is there a reason why public free wifi is not WPA encrypted? 99% of smartphones and laptops can deal with it and if not - one weak individual shouldn't put the whole community at risk. Herd immunity first.

Just post the SSID and password on the posters. Done.
