@yuudair

See NASA site for what THEY found: http://stardust.jpl.nasa.gov/home/index.html. JAXA is hoping to take that research further with newer technology.

Did he climb a construction site and throw barrels at people? Because that would be a probable cause of his heart failure.

Posted in: Sustainable smart town goes into full-scale operation near Tokyo See in context

Alternative, less Tokyo-centric article headline: "Fujisawa, Kanagawa leading the path in creating sustainable urban spaces."

Kawasaki is near Tokyo, Sagamihara. You can say Yokohama is kind of close. Fujisawa is deep in Kanagawa prefecture, which is not even named.

I watched the video and then read the article. My first thought: "There was an iMac G4 on her desk?" Didn't notice.

My dentist has an iMac G4. The design looks perfect for a doctor's office. Maybe Apple will go back to white one day.

The optimist in me wants to hope that it will truly be free and useful for travelers. The realist knows that once connected, the user will get a "log in with your docomo/softbank account" screen in Japanese only.

So the rumors that the trailer release date would be announced this week were true. (can you get more meta than that?)

Posted in: Do you think time travel will ever be possible? See in context

Question: Is air travel between Japan and the Kingdom of Luxembourg possible?

Answer: It's not because if it were, we'd see Luxembourgians in the streets. Since we don't see any, it must not be possible.

Lack of visitors from the future doesn't mean we'll never develop a method. It could be that we develop a method, but it requires a device at the destination.

Don't see that happening. Sorry.

Imagine your mom making a public comment when you have a work anniversary: "Congratulations sweetie. I'll make you your favourite pancakes with raspberry jam when you drop in."

Imagine potential employers making sure that you don't "Like" competition's product.

Imagine that shameful photo that someone tagged you in, being a click away for your boss.

Sounds like an article from the Onion.

US government, the organization notorious for exploiting vulnerabilities to listen in on sensitive data, possibly also taking part in creating the vulnerabilities, is warning people about a potential breach. What's next?

Posted in: Japan's smartphone 'zombies' wreak havoc on the streets See in context

As a reformed smaho zombie, I feel deep regret when bumping into my former brethren.

It's rude, but if you catch a glimpse of their screens, you hardly ever see anything requiring immediate attention, like GPS guidance or quick message from the person they're about to meet. 90% of the time, the screen is filled with colorful candy game characters that the walker absolutely HAS to manipulate while walking along the train platform or staircase.

Posted in: Apple Pay fails to unify fragmented market See in context

The only way Apple can unify anything is if they become the only player in a niche.

Apple's goals are not to unify. It's a for-profit company and creating open standarts is not profitable.

As a former dial-up and BBS and usenet user, I approve this app. Back then, the Internet was called a "global village" because we could talk freely with people on other continents and they wouldn't be a click away from all the photos we were tagged in. It was about the topic, not about who you may know and whose birthday it was.

Kind of like Japan Today comments. Japan Today comment board is cool.

Posted in: Shatner, 'Star Trek' director to meet about role See in context

(trekkie geekery warning)

I don't see how they can bring the original Kirk into the rebooted Star Trek universe. In "Generations", he was already placed in a pocket universe (Nexus) so he could meet Picard. Now that the original Spock created the alternate timeline of the reboot, original Kirk would have to cross the Nexus, time and timeline border.

OR, the new Scotty could just whip up an experimental model of the transporter that brings old, fat and grumpy versions of crew from alternate realities. DONE. We can bring most of the old crew back.

Actually, Microsoft made a smartwatch back in 2004. Nobody noticed.

Except maybe for David Pogue who made fun of it in his "Simplicity sells" talk.

By the way, one of his issues with the SPOT watch was charging it every day. Like the upcoming Apple watch.
