Posted in: U.S. 'deeply disappointed' as Iran convicts reporter See in context

when it comes to spying issues, America acts in exactly the same way as Iran. Actually, the US is probably even more exagerrated, or did I just watch too many movies and read too many newspapers? please don't critisize Iran and exonorate the US when it comes to this issue. The US has a long history regarding witch hunts and jailing / executing innocent people accused of 'spying'.

domestic flights in the US must be a real nightmare with a high possibility rate of being squashed between 2 selfish tubbies. good grief. train travel should be a serious option even if its much longer.

Listen people, this is a different culture and its nowhere near the 21st century. problem is that many people are judging these acts through a western and modern perspective but the fact that the parents basically organized for the deaths of their children coz they broke the rules says it all. there's not much point trying to debate this. they broke the rules and they paid with their lives. its not for us to judge another culture's values.

i dont believe this story. if so i guess the movie dumb and dumber was also largely based on a true story? even if the taxi driver had a very low IQ, he still would not have agreed to this trip. where did JT get this info.?

'the students were just fooling around'. nothing appears to be taken serioulsy. I guess if a student in Japan took a gun and killed all his classmates the head teacher would also say, oh, give him another chance he was just fooling around with a gun.

USNinjapan2. Let me explain this to you, as it also appears that you learnt very little at school. whether the US claims it landed once, twice or a hundred times on the moon - I don' believe it - get it? and I'm also entitled to my opinion without people like you 'teaching' me a lesson. If you don't like to see people expressing their opinions - why do you read this website?

there is absolutely no way that anyone has landed on the moon. if they could have done that 40 years ago, why wouldn't they have been back. The technology now is far superior but aparantely they can't go back until 2020. I'm not sure exactly how this was reinacted because I agree that many people would have to keep a big secret. Its just weird.

any action to be taken against NK will be determined by where the missile lands/how much damage is caused.

Posted in: Fujiwara, Jinnai divorcing after two years of marriage See in context

just googled it but it doesn't say. what I mean is that for example Christiano Ronaldo is an Ambassador because most people in the world know who he is. He is Fifa world player of the year and most countries receive images of him. therefore people can relate to him when they meet him. Surely people in Kenya would think - who the hell is this woman? that's my point, that's all. ambassador is not the same as volunteer.

And also, if you ask me, such fantasies are better entertained than left to fester.

come on likeitis, you can't be serious with this statement? As far as I'm aware, only Jesus never had any fantasies that would have ended up in a potential custodial sentence.

Posted in: More Japanese shunning the outside world See in context

this is a great article which is obvioulsy going to generate the most comments this week. actually everyone is correct in their feedback in one way or another because its such a complicated issue. but why should japanese people who live in japan speak english? of course it would be great if the only language in the world was english, then we wouldn't have to discuss this topic. this language / culture issue also exists in other areas such as Hong Kong, its not exclusive to Japan. The only time Japanese people wish that they knew more English is when they have to go abroad for sometime on behalf of their company and then they find that they are unable to communicate. If they don't travel on business - no problem. A few years ago the French were also very proctionist regarding their language, but even they had to give in to globalization.
