Nebuta Museum is definitely worth a visit if you go, can see the development of the floats and poke your head inside.

Posted in: Japan's 'womenomics' pioneer says mindsets must change See in context

I was always interested in this, as it must have been presented to Japan from US/Euro that 50% of your population isn't contributing it's potential to the GDP of Japan. If only. Of course nobody listened until after the bubble burst.

Many Pacific islands have sunk over the ages and buying a tesla won't solve that problem.

Posted in: Mud, anger and police -- the battle over Canada's old-growth forests See in context

Japan has been the top buyer of these old growth trees in Canada for decades. Japanese all say they love wood but they seldom think about costs and damages inflicted away from Japan. Just like the Southeast Asian forests that have been ravaged by Japanese buyers, they move on to some other project when then resource has been depleted with little to any regret.

Posted in: Transgender man in Japan wants switch recognized without surgery See in context

I agree with this person in that surgery should not be the determining factor. Surely there are transgender people not wanting to attach or detach bits and pieces of their bodies. They've probably gotten nervous hearing bad/botched results from others.

Posted in: Researcher sees lesson for today in tragedy of immigrants in Manchuria See in context

Good headline, this indeed is a lesson for all of us to consider. Back in the day Colonialism was a field of study - Japan as it turned out was a dollar short and a day late.

Such a gut-wrenching loss for Sweden and euphoria for Canada, after years and years of effort for these women. Thank you Tokyo and all of Japan for allowing these athletes to have these moments!

This article is about wearing masks OUTSIDE. Although only very limited data is provided it shows that outdoor transmission is very low. 99.9% is transmitted INDOORS. If there is more data I'd like to know about it.
