Just simply stop all travel to or from those countries.

Maybe if the girl was wearing a long dress instead of a mini skirt while going up an escalator, this would not happen.

Posted in: Arrest of Tokyo vagina artist sparks free expression protest See in context

There are much more things worse than what she is doing. Look at the magazines, Kabukicho or any other red light district, the phallic festival, etc. I don't even know that anybody would have recognized the vagina kayak or the vagina artwork unless it was pointed out to you. How much do you want to bet that these same police officers were out at hostess clubs or worse that very night. Let her go and leave her alone. Her stuff is not graphic. Just simply give a warning not to get graphic and keep it looking as art.

The cop should get into trouble for this. I am sorry but I don't see why he needed to fire his gun.

Posted in: Japan starts review of wartime sex slave apology See in context

Enough already. The apologies were made and accepted. Payments were made and accepted. And now Obama wants to bring this to table again. Well here is some news for him. American soldiers were doing the same thing.

I suspect the officer to be some type of thief himself. What type of Police Officer can have 4 million yen worth of jewelry and cash in his house?

Most may not like what he said but the fact remains, what he said was a private conversation. We all have our own private conversations.

Posted in: Obama raises human rights issues in Malaysia See in context

Seems to me that Obama should take care of his own backyard first before coming to Asia and telling them how to run their countries. Lead by example. He is not doing this at all.

Posted in: Michelle Obama's absence likely to be felt in Japan See in context

Michelle Obama is not an elected official. She is a wife, period. This woman's lib thing in America has started something about the First Lady having to be involved. I am sorry, but that is not the case.

Posted in: Officials vague on rumor Japanese support was refused for S Korean ferry See in context

To hell with politics. Even before this story, I have complained to many friends and family about this situation. I know that Abe offered support. But to me, that's not enough. Too much pride going on in this world's politics. Somebody below said the US was present? I haven't seen anything on that. My thoughts are that Obama and Abe should have said to hell with politics and mobilized ships, divers, barges and whatever immediately. Not 24 hours later or even today but immediately. Gone to the perimeter and said to the world, here we are. We are not taking over, we are here to help. My God Obama and Abe, this is over 200 High School students from one school. And to think that Obama will be here in Japan this week with a smile on while sitting next to Abe. Where are their senses? I know that I don't know exactly what was said between Japan, S. Korea and the US. But what I do know is that there are hundreds of high school children out there and not a sign of the US or Japan there doing a damn thing. I am disgusted in both countries.

Posted in: Court awards damages over Ghanaian's deportation death See in context

5 million yen. What is this a joke? In addition, what do they mean by accidental death??? Seems more like murder to me. Gagged with a towel while handcuffed to a belt? Wasn't even a mouth gag, it was a towel. Imagine that anybody in the public did this? Wouldn't it be called murder? The judge himself said what the officials did was illegal. Yes, he was here illegally so deport him. Illegal is illegal. But murder was not part of the deportation order. What about the officials involved, are they being arrested on murder charges or just publicly get their hand spanked but behind closed doors told not to worry about it. It is the officials that should pay the family, not the public tax payers.

Posted in: Mini-skirt turbulence at Skymark Airlines See in context

Sexual Harassment??? First, you all have to understand what that word means before using it so openly. Next, so the girls don't want guys looking at them, complimenting them or making remarks??? Then don't do the job. Guys have different fantasies and ideas of Stewardesses. I would much rather be served by one of these young, good looking girls in a mini-skirt than these fat or old or pregnant ones that the US allows on their flights these days.

Posted in: Japan considers bitcoin tax after Mt Gox failure See in context

Oh yeah right. Just another useless reason that the government will try to get their greedy hands on the people's money. Another tax. Well let's ask this? If there is another problem with Bitcoin as there was at Mt Gox, just how much money is the government going to give back to the rightful owners or to the company so that they company is not at loss and can replace the owner's Bitcoins. I'll bet not one single yen would be given back. The government is only about "give me, give me, give me".

Oh how ridiculous. Hire somebody for their skills and capability. You don't hire them because of then gender. They have done this with other groups before and it has been nothing but a mess.

Posted in: U.S. envoy Kennedy tweets concern over Taiji dolphin hunt See in context

Has Kennedy even been to Taiji to witness this yet, speak to the officials there, talk to the fishermen? I met her at a business event recently. She was up on stage and supposed to do a few Japanese New Year's Customs things and she looked around so lost like a little kid who just lost her parents. It was a very good thing that there were other foreigners that lived here in Japan for a long time to guide her. She is suppose to be an Ambassador. That would mean know both sides of the story before commenting on it. Don't just bring American belief's here and try to change things. Look from both sides, witness, speak to the locals and then put in your two cents.

I don't know why ben4short is getting thumbs down. He is absolutely right. Actually, I will bet the feds in the US are just upset because the Yakuza didn't share in the profits like the Italians, Russians, Chinese or others do.

Posted in: Who's afraid of working women? See in context

I keep seeing writers like Heenali writing articles like this but they all seem to be their own personal views and opinions. I have been in Japan for 26 years and still the majority of women that I know here, once they are married and/or have a child speak about working again but are actually happy to stay at home and be a mother or wife. I have seen this not only in our office numerous times but in the work place outside of our office as well with women from many other professional companies.

Posted in: Police, yakuza gear up 2020 Olympic battle See in context

Another front story to try to ease the public. This is not better than the shows on NHK showing Police standing at attention outside of the Koban and fighting crime. When was the last time you saw the police standing at attention instead of sitting in the Koban. The police here are basically in bed with the Yakuza. Like always, they will protect the yakuza for their own financial kickbacks and feedback.

The Birthrate has fallen because you have put women here into more jobs. If you insist that and try to teach that they should work, then of course the birthrate will fall further. Pick one, jobs for women or a higher birthrate. It is difficult to have both.

The second people get on the train, they pull out their phones. They are walking and not looking where they are going, their eyes glued to their phones. Go to a restaurant and look at the couples and/or groups sitting with one another but constantly on the phone. Are these people zombies? It has become ridiculous. Look at this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OINa46HeWg8
