Posted in: 72-year-old man arrested for calling police station 1,700 times over 8 days See in context

Chances were the he had been feeling very lonely for a long time. And police was only partner he could talk to by making a phone call. Nevertheless, 1,700 times over 8 days was too many.

Whatever the reason, the 18-year-old youth should have known what was right and wrong including arson.

Driver on Seibu Railway train falls asleep while at controls

Enviable ability! I'm an old guy and can't sleep well. Joking aside, falling asleep while operating a train is very dangerous. Good thing it didn't become a major incident.

Posted in: Man killed after being struck by a whisky bottle, then strangled See in context

According to police, Tomoyuki Hoshi, whose occupation is unknown, assaulted the victim, who was in his 30s, at his (Hoshi's) apartment in Nakano Ward, at around 10 a.m. on Tuesday morning, Sankei Shimbun reported. Hoshi hit the man’s head with a whisky bottle and strangled him with both hands, police said.

Chances were that they had been drinking from Monday night through Tuesday morning. And they were so much drunk. Tomoyuki Hoshi didn't say "I was drunk and I don't remember," though. RIP to the victim.

When the March 2011 earthquake-tsunami disaster occurred in Tohoku I was actually in an area very close to a northern part of Tokyo. Even in my area, almost all books fell off the bookshelf and so on. Let alone the epicenter and vicinities. Nice shot!

Posted in: Man arrested for assaulting, robbing Uber Eats deliverer See in context

Minagawa, who was identified through street surveillance camera footage, was arrested on Friday. Police said he has admitted to the charge, and quoted him as saying that he had lost his job and desperately needed money.

That clearly explains crime doesn't pay. He literally did a foolish thing.

Embarrassing thing! Just a waste of time.

Posted in: 78-year-old woman arrested after trying to kill son with hammer See in context

@ReasonandWisdomNippon Today 01:01 pm JST:

If it was the other way around and the son was hitting the mother and trying to kill her it would be a monster of a crime.....

If that was the case, the old mother would be killed without fail as the 51-year-old son was a batterer.

Police said the woman, whose name and age have not been released, appeared to be drunk at the time of her arrest.

I couldn't help but laugh while reading the article. If the culprit was a man, that was not the case though.

Police in Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture, have arrested a 52-year-old man on suspicion of indecent exposure after he dropped his pants in front of a 17-year-old high school girl, asked how she rated him and then paid her 3,000 yen.

Sounds like a peculiar fetish. Just a waste of money.

The end of the pay phone? Japanese government considering getting rid of them

Um..., I guess most Japanese elderly people don't have smart phones and have to rely on a pay phone if an emergency arises when going out far away from home and have to make emergency contact with someone they know or else.
