Posted in: Fishing boat carried inland by tsunami to be taken apart See in context

This isn't just a reminder for the folks who endured the tsunami, it is a reminder for those who will come later (aka next generation). You might think it will never happen again, but history has a tendency of repeating itself over and over again.

Posted in: New Fukushima danger zone designations allow residents to visit former homes See in context

The government hopes the new, reworded zone labels will help to mitigate fears...and prevent logical decisions.....and stop cancer.

All hail the new government and their wisdom!!!!!!

Posted in: 126 U.S. military members to sue TEPCO See in context

No body likes being lied to, but that is exactly what TEPCO did. TEPCO lied about the radiation and thus removed any option people had of protecting themselves against it. Furthermore TEPCO have avoided all accountability for the disaster they created. The Japanese government is party to the fact, so if anyone is going to make them accountable it will have to come from an external source. In this case it just happens to be the US service members.

Posted in: Panel says there was no cover-up at Fukushima nuclear plant See in context

the operator of Japan’s tsunami-crippled nuclear plant misinformed investigators and blocked an inspection of key equipment last year

Has the meaning of cover-up been lost in translation? According to dictionary.com a cover-up is any action, stratagem, or other means of concealing or preventing investigation or exposure.

Sounds like a cover-up to me.

Posted in: Abe says nuclear plants need tighter anti-terrorism measures See in context

In terms of the number of people affected and the period of time over which the effects occurred- Fukushima was/is worse.

Posted in: Abe says nuclear plants need tighter anti-terrorism measures See in context

I find it laughable that they are concerned about terrorists when TEPCO has done far worse than any terrorist has ( in Japan). Fix the problems that need fixing, then do the rest later. I'm concerned this is just a way of keeping international safety inspectors from getting easy access to the reactors.

A lot of times, advances are found in disciplines seemingly unrelated to the area we want to advance.

Posted in: Flooding complicates clean-up at Fukushima plant See in context

Don't take TEPCO's word on anything. Have everything they do independently assessed. TEPCO will bleed the government dry. Once the money's gone they'll say they've finished the job.
