This isn't a left vs right issue. Get over yourselves.

This guy was nuts and more interested in living in his dream world. He doesn't care/believe in reality. He just wants to dream and create chaos.

The reason why cellular phones must be shut off near the priority seats is that they emit signals that may negatively influence the functionability if pacemakers.

Posted in: Myanmar's Suu Kyi freed from house arrest See in context

That is correct. After 28 years out of the country she came back thinking she alone can change the country? I think not.

Mikehuntex, you are misinformed. She returned only to take care of her ill mother and was then thrust into a leadership role as the daughter of the national hero.

The article even mentions it:

Suu Kyi, something of an accidental political leader, took up the democracy struggle in 1988.

Having spent much of her life abroad, she returned home to take care of her ailing mother just as mass demonstrations were breaking out against 25 years of military rule. She was quickly thrust into a leadership role, mainly because she was the daughter of Aung San, who led Myanmar to independence from Britain before his assassination by political rivals.

She has always had the freedom to leave, but chose to stay under house arrest because the junta would not allow her back in.

Let's show some respect and decency to this amazing women by not dragging this thread into left vs right territory.

I've been praying daily for her freedom for 7 years now. I'm so happy about this.

If you want a credit card, just apply at the post office. No problem. There's even a special space on the form for non-kanji names.

I was denied a credit card from the post office. I had a history of over four years of monthly salary injections into ny account at the post office when I applied.

I was upset

But I got a card from Marui's Epos center.

moonbeams, I never watch Fox News, but you think some news sources deliberately suppress the mainstream Muslim voice? I would like to think that most of the world's media would be eager to pick up and relay this Muslim voice. In fact I am sure they would.

the Muslim community always denounces these attacks. It's the people who just repeat over and over "how come they don't denounce terrorism?" that gets stuck in your memory.

Here: just google "muslim denounce terrorism" JT won't let me post the search results

Nanban I really hope you are correct. I just wonder how you know that for a fact. Are you privy to some kind of information the rest of us aren't.

Yeah, he's privy to the news. You should try reading it. I remember when that happened. The guy was turned in by his own father.

this really makes me want to embrace the wonderful 'religion of peace' that islam is.

The silence by the moderate muslim community denouncing this kind of extremism in the name of Islam is deafening.

Right of the bat posts like these. For your information, the Muslim community has been quite vocal in denoucing these acts. FOX News won't report it.

Okay, lost lostrune2, you have wiped out the junta. The junta was at war with 9 different ethnic groups. Most have signed peace treaties. What do you do if chaos breaks out with doing groups vying for power. These groups have been militarized for decades.

Suu Kyi wants this done peacefully. We must respect that.

Posted in: Suu Kyi officially barred from Myanmar election See in context

Though regime change is needed, there are three reasons not to force it.

One, it's a slap in the face to everything Suu Kyi has sacrificed for. She does not want any violence.

Two, joining the military is one of the only means young men have to support their families. Attacking the junta would destroy thousands of innocent families.

Three, and most important, Burma is a country of many competing ethnic factions. A swift and violent removal of the junta could lead to something worse than Iraq.
