The summer heat will kill the virus. That’s why Southern Hemisphere has so few cases. No worries, Olympics will happen in Tokyo.

is anyone really surprised that this is spreading in such a confined space? Wtf. Is there no other option for them than waiting for the virus to spread to everyone on the ship?

From what I see, it looks like about 2/3 of JT readers are devout Ghosn supporters so nothing you can say will change their minds.

Reminds me a little of FOX news...

He advised all foreigners to leave

I don’t see too much focus yet on this statement. Think about what he has just said.

It looks like most people who read English news articles in Japan are sympathetic with Ghosn - baffles me why. The guy was screwing the system for years to amass and keep his fortune. But you don’t want to hear the truth..

I am assuming that by ‘getting a fair trial’, what they are really indicating is getting a trial where Ghosn gets off without any punishment..if so, I think they’d better manage their expectations

Posted in: Ghosn's escape leaves Japan red-faced See in context

We now know how justified his bail conditions were, especially the banning of communication with his wife (who I assume was behind planning all of this).

It is really ridiculous that the goods leaving his house were not thoroughly checked and the company and individuals that arranged it should also be suitably punished.

I would truly love to see both Carlos & wife back in Japan and wearing handcuffs - they are making a mockery of Japan.

He is now a criminal, a liar and a fugitive - the press should not give him any air time.

Posted in: Ghosn's lawyer says he is stunned his client left country See in context

Seems Carlos may have been using his time productively by watching tv dramas of A-team, MacGyver & smugglers... will be interesting to hear how it was done, especially if the rumors about hiding in a musical instrument box are true.

That said, I can’t wait until this criminal is brought to justice. What a selfish lying scum who cares nothing for others he has revealed himself to be. No, I don’t care about what he now has to say - his credibility has been destroyed.

Baffles me that there are still those who defend his actions and will inevitably’-‘ this post. Enjoy...

Posted in: Ghosn, in Lebanon, says he left Japan to avoid 'injustice and political persecution' See in context

This is a bit like news about Trump...

Those that support him will continue to do so, despite him breaking the law, lying, leaving a mess for others to clean up and yet still continuing to proclaim innocence. He is now a criminal.

For me, he now lacks any credibility he may once have had.

Posted in: Ghosn, in Lebanon, says he left Japan to avoid 'injustice and political persecution' See in context

If this is true...

What a scumbag - not only does he break the law but then flees and goes bad mouthing Japan. I hope there is a reward offered and some bounty hunter brings him back. That would be perfect justice!

I also think that there is a bigger story here since he would have been closely watched. Someone was paid off.

This won’t go down well for other foreign suspects on bail. Not that he ever gave a toss about them...

Looking forward to hearing how the press handles this

Everyone knows this was a complete mess, that the guy and his mother are bad news and that the wedding is not going to happen.

Leave it be, dude and be thankful your daughter didn’t make this huge mistake.

Posted in: Tokyo 2020 marathon move decision 'final', says IOC's Coates See in context

There must be some stipulation in the contract about moving events. Otherwise there would be more uproar about this.

The marathon is the whole reason the Olympics started in the first place! Having it forcefully moved to a different city than the host is really crazy and nonsensical.

The IOC should have looked into it more when the Japan bid said that ‘August is mild and sunny and conducive to athletes performance’.

Anybody who has spent any amount of time in Tokyo in Aug would have agreed to move the whole event to later in the year.

That’s at least JPY 16,300,000,000 for this.

As soon as Japanese hear about it, and especially the fact that Japan taxpayers are funding the whole bill (including VIP accommodation), they are indeed outraged.

It’s nice of course to keep some tradition, but there needs to be a reality check as well.

Simple - ban sites like viagogo, make reselling a punishable crime and actually track down offenders. They have the resources to do it.

Tickets for some games being resold for 7x face value.

There should be better registration for tickets and maybe even ID checks.

STOP these criminals!
