Slow news day. Here we go again with Carlos trying to stay relevant and plea his innocence from his Lebanon prison mansion.

And the usual - from Carlos supporters.

Posted in: Princess Mako diagnosed with PTSD; to marry Kei Komuro on Oct 26 See in context

PTSD is about post trauma. I don’t know why her experience is considered trauma, and kinda makes a mockery of what PTSD really is and what PTSD sufferers are going through. It sounds like depression and inability to handle the stress of being a public figure.

In any case, let them be. Other people’s decisions should not be entertainment for us.

It’s very typical. While the world looks in horror at Afghanistan, the Israelis take advantage.

Posted in: Biden says he stands squarely behind Afghanistan decision See in context

Just when my trust in US was starting to improve and I thought that things may be ok again, then this happens.

It’s disgraceful to just leave the people alone and helpless. The scenes at the airport are heartbreaking. Their president flees his people.

If they do this to the Afghan people, then what right have they to be in other countries? Will they also abandon others? This was all for nothing and I hope that people do not forget what Biden has done. God help us all.

Posted in: Suga denies IOC pressure to hold Olympics: report See in context

Is this Suga taking one for the team and blaming himself to save the LDP?

or is he just continuing to be an incompetent oaf?

Either way, he is clearly a liar with zero connection to the people he was chosen to lead and zero grip on reality.

Posted in: Prosecutors drop indictment against woman arrested over 4-year-old daughter’s death See in context

bokuda needs to read the article and stop thinking that everything is a conspiracy and setup. Maybe too much Netflix and Fox News?

A 4 year old child was murdered by her mother.

Have some respect and decency.

In the history of bad ideas, this has to be right up there…

I can image the meeting “The public doesn’t want us to build new nuke plants because of safety concerns, so we won’t… let’s just keep the existing plants running forever”

What could possibly go wrong with this…

Posted in: Japanese composer for Tokyo Olympics apologizes for 1990s abuse See in context

So the composer is a bully who picked on disabled kids and boasted of this this back in 95. But he’s really sorry for it now that his name has been announced.

in other words, it’s just another day at the Olympics.

Nice ploy…get rid of (oops, I mean donate) AstraZeneca vaccines that no first world country really wants and do it in a way that makes Japan look good.

Posted in: Ghosn pledges lengthy fight to clear his name See in context

Two things guaranteed.

There will always be this army of trolls who vehemently defend this criminal despite the fact that he absconded from Justice. The bad people only admit their wrong doings on Scooby Doo and in TV dramas…

And there will be the rest of us.

At least it’s a nice distraction to the Olympics fiasco…

So Japan wants G7 support but disregards the fact that most people in Japan do not want this.

How does this even make sense, or am I missing something here?

Does anyone purposely use Bing? It rears it’s ugly head occasionally and then I have to go about and change default search engine back to google.

I reckon this censorship will make it even less popular.

Posted in: Japan LGBTQ activists push for equality law before Olympics See in context

It’s a nice day in a Tokyo, irregardless if you are having one or not. Arguing on this topic and getting angry with some faceless anonymous person is a guaranteed way not to…

The fact is that this country is ruled by old, conservative, sexist and slightly xenophobic men and that is not going to change in the near future. Yes, there will be some small wins along the way and we will get there eventually, but don’t expect things to drastically change overnight.

This isn’t US or Europe, but then again this isn’t China or Iran, and let’s be thankful for that and enjoy the nice day.

Japan may have freedom of speech but what’s the point when the leaders do not listen to the people and the PM is basically a dictator?

I guess at least you can express opinions here and don’t get arrested and jailed. Yet.

In 2021 Japan ruling party struggles to pass laws that guarantees basically that people should be treated equally and that discrimination won’t be tolerated.

Way too many dogs to be able to pay attention to all of them.

Having recently gotten a dog and bringing him for daily walks, I know how much work it is to make sure they don’t eat stuff on the ground, clean up their mess and generally make sure they get the exercise. I don’t see how 1 person can manage this - I think this guy would be stopping every few meters.

All these dogs look cute though…

Posted in: WHO hopes Tokyo Olympics can go ahead despite extension of state of emergency See in context

I think the title of the article is really a question -

Who hopes Tokyo Olympics can go ahead despite extension of state of emergency?

And the answer is people who have a vested financial interest in it and who do not care about the people who actually live in this country.

Why are they debating it if it’s a forgone conclusion that it will be approved on Sunday?

The US has already vaccinated about 50 million people...a little under half the entire population of Japan.

To say the Japanese Govt response is slow is an understatement.

Easily solved.

Let Tokyo have the 2024 Olympics and shift Paris and LA by 4 years.

This ensures the financial burden isn’t only on Tokyo and gives the world a chance to recover from COVID.
