Posted in: Amid losses, Japan determined to reopen schools See in context

I understand the parents grief,,,yet it is really unfair for some of them to turn their anger on the one surviving teacher who along with the now dead teachers did everything in their ability to help their students to survive, if they hadn't thought of the children and just of themselves then there would be even less surviving children

i feel so sorry for Junji Endo sensei,,,to have lost his colleagues, the many students, the school in ruins, (possibly his outside life is in ruins too , his living quarters, family ???) and then to face the brunt of parents misdirected anger and grief, that is too much for a person alone to cope with GAMBATTE!

Posted in: French ban on Islamic veils put into force See in context

is France not a modern country where there is freedom to follow ones own religion, wearing a veil in public is not hurting anyone who looks at it should they make a law that all people only bathe once a week too, so they can be truly French I mean we are not forced to eat natto when we come to Japan or to become Buddhists,,,

Posted in: What is hell? Book stirs debate about afterlife See in context

like everything in christianity that is not based on the bible (easter, christmas, birthdays, halloween,,,hell) you will find these traditional thoughts come from pagan ideas,,,the ideas of a suffering place of torment in an afterlife come from Egypt, Babylon etc and Christendom on the whole adopted these ideas to get the pagans to accept christianity if you look at the original translations of the bible before they were diluted and rearranged by christendom, you will find that the words sheol, hades and gehenna are used as opposed to hell, and what do these words mean? the grave,,,,yes the dirt where you body goes when you are dead, no fire, no demons also contemplate, when you are dead , can you feel pain? no,,,,so no pain in 'hell' and if hell is only for wicked, then why did faitful ones such as Job and Jesus himself speak about going to hell or sheol I dont believe God is causing the natural disasters , these are things that to a large extent are caused by natural forces that have being operating since the worlds creation or beginning (however you believe) the bible does fortell large scale things like these happening in the last days before Armageddon, so if you are in agreeance with the bible, you would believe that we are living in the last days, either way, everyone has their own thoughts on afterlife, be it death, resurrection, (to heaven or earth), reincarnation, or something else lets all try to live peacefully shall we

along with clothes , our kids also put in nurie (colouring books) and origami along with teddies, we thought even older people like to do origami and it could detract from the boredom we went along to play with the kids in the saitama arena, but they had too many volunteers then,,,,, lovely to see such a nice photo here

robertcb, i will let others deal with you about that comment if you have lived in Japan for any length of time and are actually living here because you love the country and its people, then you will yourself already understand the feeling of hakanasa or even shibusa im sure Cleo and other more mature ones on this board can put their comment more eloquently than me to understand sakura is in a way to understand Japanese ,,,,

pleeease,,,,,no one is forcing you to sit and watch your tv all day,,,,get outside, sunshine, some trees ready for spring,,,,its nice outside! if you have kids, you can play with them outside, if you must watch tv, you do have a remote that has a mute button, a button to change channels,,,, stop complaining and do something

Posted in: SMAP broadcasts 79-minute live earthquake special See in context

gw good point, of course i realised this, yet with all the reporter news helicopters out there, surely THEY could do it for the people im just frustrated at the lack of help there seems to be for the people in evacuation centers right now

Posted in: SMAP broadcasts 79-minute live earthquake special See in context

GW,,please explain,,,,because if helicopters can pluck people from roofs to safety surely they could drop foodstuffs off to people who have being couped up in evacuation centers for nearly 2 weeks??

Posted in: SMAP broadcasts 79-minute live earthquake special See in context

i am still wondering why no richie talent on tv has hired a helicopter and dropped food stuffs and medicine, that would like make their talent status like go through the roof! oh,,,thats right,,it is hard to think for yourself if you are a talent, you need someone to do it first then follow like a sheep i wish i had a helicopter.....

Posted in: Don't forget your pets when disaster strikes See in context

I agree Cleo, some form of identification would be a really good idea for pets, and also they should provide some coverage for animals at the evacuation centers (im always perplexed at translation of hinan jyou as meaning place of refuge, but saying refugee center seems weird,,,,)

oh , penelope, that is horrible, expats leaving pets behind , that is cruel

i understand if you are running for your life from a tsunami, but other than that, you bought the pet, you are responsible for its life

Posted in: Don't forget your pets when disaster strikes See in context

im sorry,,,,i love animals as much as the next person, yet your life is more important,,,if people didnt have time to even put on shoes to escape the tsunami, i dont think they would have time to pick up their animal either, allowing the animal an open door to escape from is kindness in that situation of course if it is an earthquake, then yes, provide food, water etc, but still provide a point of escape in case of further quakes be reasonable
