Aldgate Ale is my favorite pint these days, and I believe it's a Baird product.
This is actually produced by Nagano's Swan Lake brewery

@ Dadude
"Considering the fact that Japan is one of the top countries for government assistance for the disabled as well as great facilities, I'd recommend researching the topic before commenting."
What are you basing this view on? It should be better than most countries in the world as Japan is incredibly wealthy. Are you saying it is one of the best of all the wealthy countries?
My experience of the facilities and support for disabled people in Japan is very disappointing. Visibly underfunded and an attitude that they should all be looked after at home and are a burden. It wasn't until quite recently they were even allowed into schools.
Most school buildings are completely unsuitable for disabled children from example, leaving parents to scrap for places in newly built schools.

Very dubious badly written article, should specify that the article is referring to foreclosures. And there is a reason why they are cheap, I'll let the JT readers use their imagination on that one...

So sad...The predominant attitude here amongst mothers is "it won't happen to me" it is this belief that prevents risks being identified. I used to have this attitude before I became a father, now I find I am the opposite, i see risk everywhere.
I'm not sure what can be done about it. when I try and illustrate risks to mothers here I just get "Daiiiizyooobu" and a chuckle.
Could be the education system, luckily my wife dropped out early so she doesn't have this attitude.

Posted in: Japanese beer heads cause Westerners to froth at the mouth See in context
A beer should have a small head on it, of genuine beer foam, in order to accentuate the aroma of the beer. The Japanese style of pulling back on the beer server to generate foam is nonsense. It is purely how the industrial breweries in Japan have gone about marketing their products. Anything to deflect from the taste and lack of imagination in their beers. They focus on "freshness" and the the size of the head, and "nodogoshi" instead of what malts, what hops what kind of yeast strain, what process was involved in making the beer.
The reason they do this is because the processes involved with the industrial beer manufactures are just that, industrial and unappealing.
Luckily Japan has a number of awesome micro-breweries to compensate for this.

Awful. I saw a woman in Roppongi Hills the other day being pulled around on a leash by a pit bull. Japan should ban these kind of dangerous dogs, only the weird and ignorant would keep them.

Posted in: 50 reasons Tokyo is the world's greatest city See in context
The Tokyo rush hour on the train is a nightmare. The train are crowded. Some Japanese woman can yell "pervert" anytime and he'll be kicked out. Some time it's true and sometimes he's innocent but all people believe the girl. They don't even get a fair trial and it's getting ridiculous. If you want to drive it's impossible and it's expensive and you pay to use highway. You can't do anything about this cause it's just too much people.
In Tokyo, man work from six in the morning to midnight and come home drunk like a dog. They don't even see their families. They even work on weekends. Some people live in the office. They don't follow the 8 hour shift and the competition is too great for you to say no. This is related to over population and the bad economy. Man and woman are not equal. But it works both ways. All man has to is work and married woman can't get good jobs. What a wonderful life in Tokyo.
Is your glass half empty by any chance?

Once my then-10-year-old daughter had to force a teacher to admit she was racist against children of foreigners born in Japan because they weren't 'real Japanese.' Why did this discussion start? Because my daughter dropped something and the teacher said "You dropped it because you're not Japanese.'
Amazing the ignorance in this country. If anyone said that to my daughter I don't know if I could control myself. Well done to your daughter for sticking up for herself. I hope I can raise mine the same way. She is only 3 so hasn't really encountered this stuff yet. If someone told her she was not Japanese, she would get very, very upset.

The answer to this problem is very simple. Don't take the train, walk everywhere. I walk 90 minutes to work every morning and back every night. I can't remember the last time I took a train. I walk in the relative quiet, immersed in my own thoughts and space and am much happier as a result of it.
