It is disappointing that this valuable whale research has been disrupted. This research will lead to a cure for diseases that kill millions of people every year. So many people will have to suffer because of the selfishness of Sea Shepherd.

could you please post a bullet point list of the 'friendly' things Israel has done for America lately?
Israel has been loyal to America for its entire existence. It's a mutually beneficial relationship that provides Israel with protection and America with a presence in the Middle East region. Their unequivocal loyalty and friendship is reason enough to protect the innocent citizens of Israel from the tyranny of their neighbors. I don't need to provide you with a list of things they've done for us - that's not what friendships are about. Don't be ridiculous. If Obama keeps criticizing our friends, we will soon be left without any allies.

The Obama Administration is pushing people around again. Just like they did to Japan, Korea, Canada, and countless other allies. Is Obama trying to alienate our closest friends?

Toyota of course has blown so much credibility with its response to date with the whole "unintended acceleration" issue, that even this incident will damage them.
That's true. But as more and more of these liars are investigated, the Toyota owners will too lose credibility.
Toyota just needs to be patient. Pretty soon, everyone will move on and forget about these recalls. Soon, Americans will have something new to panic about.

How can the Japanese police order people to stop filming? Is there a law in japan against taking pictures of the sea, and of fishermen?
They may or may not be. But there are definitely laws against harassment, which is the crime these "journalists" commit every time they disrupt the legal business of the fishermen.

misguided posters
No need to insult other posters personally. If your argument is logical, then it will speak for itself.
These lawsuits are simply people jumping on a bandwagon to grab some cash. Yes, some people have been injured, and they should take Toyota to court to let the court decide if Toyota is in fact at fault. But the rest of these people are taking advantage of others who have died, just to make some money off of their car that has zero problems.

And who will pay medical expenses and care for the Japanese people who do eventually fall ill if they continue to eat it?
This is an excellent point. I agree, dolphin meat should not be consumed. But if people are allowed to smoke and drink, I don't think they should be prevented from eating mercury meat if they want to.

sad but typical that a main reason for not killing dolphins will be that they are contaminated with mercury.
If people want to eat mercury meat, then why can't they? If dolphin meat was healthy, would you still opposed the hunt?
