Tests showed the man had a version of the Delta strain found in Australia, and Ardern said investigations narrowed down the origin to a person who arrived from Sydney on Aug 7.

Delta strain is believed to be very contagious , know to have escaped vaccines and a real bitch virus. It would be interesting to see how the NZ strategy holds against it.

How will they track shots if there is no reservation? Will they still require the coupons? What if the person needs a travel certificate? How will they stop people from getting the shot before the 3 weeks?

Biometrics

Posted in: Half of Japan's population has received at least 1 dose of COVID-19 vaccine See in context

The number of people who received two vaccine shots and still contracted COVID-19 was less than one-15th of the number of unvaccinated people who contracted the virus among cases reported between Aug 10 and 12.

If lately the number of cases is about 5000 average this for 3 days it would mean that the number the number of people who received two vaccine shots and still contracted is about 1000.

Even If only 10 of these turn into serious cases needing 2-3 weeks of hospitalization each Tokyo and Osaka won't be able to handle. So get ready for a long and messy winter.

As an NZ'er outside of NZ and waiting to get back.....

Go to the US and ask for asylum . I think you are eligible because your country won't let you go back. As a bonus you will get a free covid19 vaccine.

I think now the key question needs to be asked whether Japan is really a developed country that belongs in the G7.

You are right ! For whatever reason they are very quiet !

The UK now can't say anything because of brexit ? The US won't because of China ? And everyone else because neither UK nor US is doing it.

The term “war criminals” is defined by the victors

No it is not ! It is defined as "a person who has carried out an act during the conduct of a war that violates accepted international rules of war"

People have been and still are fighting over money and land all the time. I don't want to say this is fine but it is what it is. The problem comes when you intentionally start killing civilian

The number of infected people hospitalized with severe symptoms in Tokyo was 268, up 17 from Sunday, health officials said.

A steady increase of around 20 per day of these in Tokyo . I wouldn't be surprised if schools close in Sep .

Actually Japan officially has more hospital beds per capita than most other developed countries.

Not for covid tho. covid is I think capped at 300 or so. And very likely not because there is a lack of equipment.

Half-full according to Tokyo government data. Where do you get your information from?

Okay maybe a small semantic problem there in the post. Please replace "full" with "operating at maximum capacity".

Today I saw a dancing studio full with old people taking dance lessons. Indoor , no masks no nothing. These pensioner activities (yeah probably many more ) shops should be compensated and closed.
