@timeon - picking a house next to a cemetery is one of the best things I've ever done. No noisy neighbors, and very cheep. Also, my ex-wife's family scored a mansion and a private island the 1920's for a song because there had been a murder in it. No ghosts, or at least they were genteel ones if they existed.

I got smart and solvent enough to replace my cookware when it looks and works bad. Expensive Tefal is not worth it, but the higher-end house brand at Nittori is good value. Never seen titanium coatings but definitely am interested.

I agree with you on all of your points, but if the Blue Helmets can't be launched at Syria, surely this is the time for the Arab League to step up to the plate. None of the Arab countries like what is going on, so why don't they do something finally instead of enjoying the good life and flapping their jaws at meetings?

Nissan has been building cars in the UK for a long time. Anyway, they repatriate profits to Japan and invest them here. I had a Sunny built in UK when I lived there (it was a lemon though!)

I was going to mention the great Datsun 240Z, the grendaddy of Japanese muscle cars, but these are still quite a few restored ones around. The Datsun 510 was called the poor man's BMW 2000, and is pretty rare nowadays.

Posted in: China hikes military spending to win local wars: Wen See in context

What a waste of money and this action forces other countries to waste even more money. These powerful people who control military budgets (for their own ulterior motives) are robbing their own citizens of wealth which could be used much more fruitfully on enhancing living conditions.>

True, but this is what Reagan did with great success to the Soviet Union. Worthwhile? Not for me to judge.
