These things have been in NZ (world's top dope-smoking country btw) for so long now that thje Govt has already banned it and figured ways to ban similar. Why use this stuff? The real thing is a similar price and grows in the ground... nature's little gift to you and me.

well calm down - I struggle to remember a decent pack he was ever in charge of creating...? But yes , he clearly understands the systemic problems as he has mouthed off already that he won't be doing anything about it.

riiiight because Eddie Jones is just sooo much more of an attacking coach than JK was. All the best to Japan rugby - but Jones will end up in the same acrimonious heap that JK did; behind the back whispers that it is all the gaijins fault. Jones has already come out and said he won't try to change the structure of Japanese rugby when that is where the problems stem from...the problems are systemic! JK was right about that but got nowhere against the old boy's network of incompetence.

Of course rugby must be attacking - but it starts up front with brutal efficient forwards - and requires competent ref'ing at all levels.

an MBA..... the most overrated, overpriced, waste of time a person can do. The "I have no idea what I want or can do" Degree.... but I'm looking forward to you paying me over-inflated prices for my newly acquired 'expertise'. I would not touch one, or hire a person with one for any reason.

How ridiculous that an accident of birth provides all the best that medicine has to offer - when citizens who contribute to society are unable to have the same advantages. When will an end to this system which deifies the utterly useless and meaningless end?

have watched all the movies - read the books, love the story. The American version is better in every sense, and contains more of the book than the Swedish version. Only Rapace's Lisbeth is better IMO/

Posted in: Three questions facing capitalism See in context

A quite interesting article - thank you. You raise several interesting points: Is capitalism dead? Why no, of course not. Is spiralling debt in a self perpetuating cycle doomed - of course it is. But it is interesting when you turn to Europe and Germany as your illustration:

The solution to the crisis is to get Germany on board the inflation bandwagon, and then, the euro will continue to weaken as it goes the way of the dollar and pound; inflation will bubble up. The banks have already been bailed out by the European Central Bank. In turn, this will enable the banks to bail out the very same system that has bailed them out. The merry-go-round will continue to spin

Points very well made and indicative of a deeper understanding of the problem. You mention the classic definition of capitalism before adding the newer dimension of capitalism by 'Bank deposit' (to paraphrase). But therein lies the problem. The system of debt as money creation is at the root of credit malaise (well before the true capitalist crisis of over demand destroys us). Unfortunately the world is locked into this system now - there is no escape as Germany understands.

We can theorise new systems (resource based economy, actual communism, etc) they may well work, but a change over to these utopian mirages is of course impossible. But, why not a return to universal gold standard? Otherwise let us sit back and watch there ever increasing debt/creation/inflation cycle lift worth beyond the stratosphere.

Very interesting, very enjoyable...but capitalism dead...no, no, it is very well alive thank you!

well US beef is great if you are okay with all the hormones and anti-biotics that get pumped into them.... then there is the BSE... Not really for me.

Actually, it is cheaper in most countries to produce grass-fed beef, and, in my opinion at least it tastes better (but taste are subjective obviously)

Posted in: ANZCO Foods Japan See in context

whilst not k nowing the exact figures (and being too lazy to look it up) The grain fed section of NZ beef is minuscule (it is on the rise however. Mainly to keep up with overseas perceptions. I was having this discussion with a manager of Silver Ferns Farms (who are a good deal bigger player than ANZCO). There is general agreement that grain fed beef is more tender but I, like you much prefer the robust flavour of grass-fed beef (and it remains the main type).

A little know fact is that grain-fed beef has only about half the shelf life of grass-fed (40 days vs 90 in refrigerated, vacuum sealed packs). If, like me, you tend to buy a whole cube roll at a time ..this has significant implications.

As for our lamb... especially that from the Hawkes Bay - it is second to nore - end of story

you are being disingenuous It's me: You k now well that there is a difference between blue-fin and the 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade tuna that people see in the supermarkets or buy in cans.

I would like to know more about the blur fin tuna being caught for fattening in NZ too..... no news of it here!

There is Tuna farming of course.... abit different to what you are suggesting though.

No sorry...tuna is the next whale for Japan.

I love it where he says: " “I wanted to win the best tuna so that Japanese customers, not overseas diners, can enjoy it,” Dxcks like this guy are why the world will soon have no blue fin tuna ..and why I cannot eat it in my own country as it all gets shipped to Japan. Maybe we should go back to daft subsidies for our fishermen, or keep mandatory percentage of the best products for ourselves...

What a twat - $700K for a fish. It is economic lunacy. These people are responsible for raping the commons - and have no idea whatsoever about conserving future stocks.
