The significance of this is not that China doesn't want to take to Abe, but that they officially said so. In other words, it means foreign relations and deteriorating further.

An apology is not made, not just by words, but by actions. Japan's leaders' current actions do not show apology nor respect for those who died to live in a peaceful world.

I wouldn't care about them shoring up their military, if Abe hadn't already shown willingness to pick petty fights and disregard any sense of regret for Japan's past mistakes. He's acting like a war monger. There's no possible way Japan could be combat ready for many many years, and attempting to be will only drain Japan of money and increase debt.

I actually enjoy learning Japanese in the same way other people enjoy taking a pottery class or listening to music. It's fun and useful. Because please do not believe for one second that learning Japanese will hurt you. It doesn't take long in Japan to figure out that having knowledge is always better than remaining ignorant. At the very least, you'll have to learn simple kanji, katakana, hiragana and basic spoken phrases.

I feel like a lot of people forget that just because it's easy for YOU to not speak Japanese in Japan, you're being inconsiderate to everyone around you.

I don't think "rambunctious" is the right word for this. 'Violent" is right. This shouldn't be an issue of gender, it should be an issue of violence. And it's not okay.

To the people saying this is a bad thing, NO. The number of reported bullying cases going up is a VERY good thing, because for the first time ever people are actually reporting them. You can't fix what you ignore.. The bullying issue has always been bad, but at least now people are starting to realize it needs to be fixed.

I quite like celebrating Christmas, though it is kinda interesting how secular Japanese Christmas is. The reason is obvious, but it's still a change. The way it's viewed as a romantic holiday is also a bit strange.

And really, people in here sure are in a bad mood about Christmas!

I have no doubt that some idiot is going to try to use this like a prostitution service, but the fact that they have older women and women with children suggests that that kind of thing wouldn't be tolerated. I can't help but still find many aspects of this sexist (why only women? why not a dude for guys to hang out with?), but can understand how a normal person with extreme social anxiety could find this very useful. I guess it all depends on how this is being carried out in practice.

I'd like a mix of traditional and modern culture, both tasteful. There's nothing wrong with old culture, but Japan doesn't have to pretend its modern entertainment industry doesn't exist as well.

While this does reek of 'Go China! We the best!' he does make some valid arguments. Japanese nationalism is starting to look like it will become a big problem. (Specifically, it will mean politicians making more and more stupid choices that are hurting international relations.) The war with Japan was much more complicated than 'we won only because of the bomb.' Yes, that IS why the Allies won, but if the bomb had never been dropped (and even before it had) the war was going very very badly for Japan. It was going badly for the Allies too, yes, but even without the bomb, Japan almost certainly would have lost. So for some of these Japanese nationalists to be painting the war as a 'Japan was doing so well!' (not the majority of them are saying this, thank god) is a blatant misrepresentation of history. Nationalism needs to be tempered by realism, and a need for good relations with your fellow countries. So while China is being childish as usual, they did get one thing right: We live in a global society and Japan's politicians need to stop trying to antagonize the world so they can 'win' some imaginary contest of 'how big is my dick.' There is nothing to be won in this situation, but a lot to be lost.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to be a housewife and raise kids. I'm a feminist, and I would be perfectly happy to be a housewife. Feminism is about making choices. Raising kids is incredibly difficult and not everyone is up to it. Not to mention, being a housewife doesn't mean ALL you do is raise kids and cook and clean. You can have hobbies and interests and passions even when not at a 9-5 job.
