Actually, they’re not made of high quality leather as pointed out above, it’s fake leather. This argument that, “They may be expensive but they’ll last through six years of school” is just excusing these racketeers. You can buy a very good bag won’t be much more than 10,000 yen. And even if it does (god forbid!) start to look a bit worn, get a new one!

I still think the rule is stupid even after watching this. There is a blind spot with this particular crossing, but there usually isn’t and you can see if there’s a train without having to come to a full stop and wind your window down(!). It reminds me of the person who drives around at 20mph thinking that they’re being a ‘safety driver’. We don’t stop at crossing lights when they’re on green ‘just in case’.

I heard an oldish Japanese person talking about how it was going to be difficult to tell who was ‘pure’ Japanese in the future when more foreigners came here for work. Just the casual use of the word ‘pure’ hints at the racism simmering just under the surface in this polite country.

Th hours these guys are expected to put in is insane and the pay they get in return probably works out close to minimum wage when factoring in the hours. It’s like they’re expected to do the work of five different people. Well, I’m sure the government are laughing all the way to the bank with the extra wages they don’t have to pay.

I’ve got zero interest in doing the tourist thing of climbing Mount Fuji. Any person serious about hiking will tell you that it’s a boring mountain - nice from afar but far from nice. And, you should never have to pay to climb a mountain or be out in nature.

Agree with the above. This kind of thing always brings the xenophobes and racists out. Why is it that anyone can ‘be’ American (for example), but being Japanese has different parameters for so many.
