It smells more like that the police are forcing him to confess to crimes they have been too incompetent to solve.

Easy way to close the books on a long list of unsolved crimes.

@Youdontknow - I think the father was taken to the hospital in an unconscious state, not the 14 year old boy.

Incidents like this usually have a history of conflicts between the neighbors.

Not sure how much protection these raincoats actually provide. I guess it's more for their peace of mind than actual protection.

I have driven through that part of the country before. It is very easy to fall asleep behind the wheel because the landscape and the drive are very boring. At times no other cars were in sight which made it even worse. I had to keep slapping myself and blasted my stereo to keep from falling asleep.

...there is no-one left to save just bodies to find.

Just read an AP article bout the reporters finding a 75 year old man, Kunio Shiga, stranded alone at his home within the evacuation zone of Fukushima since the earthquake/tsunami. He is out of water and short on food and unable to get his car started to leave the area. I guess not everyone is dead in the area.

For those who are interested. There are a couple pictures of this ship from other angles on MSN's PhotoBlog and I think they give the viewer a better idea of the size of this ship.

The name of the PhotoBlog is:

"Panoramic image of the destruction in Kesennuma, Japan"

Posted in: Gadhafi forces overcome defenses in rebel town See in context

From what I've read Gadhafi's hold on power isn't much. It's too bad western powers have so far taken a hands off position, because with just a little more help he would be history.

Perhaps the western powers have finally learned that the enemy of my enemy is not necessary my friend, especially when it comes to the Middle East.

Posted in: Arrested U.S. official in Pakistan is actually CIA contractor See in context

The senior Pakistani intelligence official told the AP the two men in the response vehicle that went to aid Davis, killing the bystander, have left the country. The official said the Pakistani government’s decision to let them leave was a concession to the U.S.

@GJDailleult - Davis was alone in the car. The third person who died was a motorcyclist and he was hit by a 2nd car coming to the aid of Davis. After hitting the motorcyclist, the 2nd car fled the scene and went back to the Consulate. The 2nd car never made it to Davis. The Pakistani knew the identities of the men in the 2nd car and they were allowed to leave the country.

The remarkable thing is that if Kim Jong Il doesn't nuke Tokyo, this will probably be the biggest story of the week.

Actually this is a really smart military defence move by the Japanese; as long as the pandas are in Tokyo, NK would not dare nuke Tokyo.

On top of what smartacus and EE said, some of the top executives of these so call non-profit charities have huge salaries into six or seven figures U.S. dollars. It's a real disgrace. I am not contributing to their big salaries.

Posted in: Fireworks blamed for death of 3,000 birds over Arkansas town See in context

Updated estimate is roughly 5000 birds and a state veterinarian tells NBC that preliminary necropsy results from several birds show that they died of "multiple blunt trauma to their vital organs," though what caused the trauma remains uncertain. According to Dr. George Badley, their stomachs were empty, so they weren't poisoned, and they died in midair, not upon impact with the ground.
