Lets not forget that compulsory education here finishes at 15 years of age, this means that High school is voluntary and the system and teachers control what students wear and do in school as well as after school, this means that many are not permitted to take part-time jobs or have a social life.
These are rules and they do not need a contract to follow the rules, they do it because that is what they want to do, the same as the girls in these idol groups.

Fair labor practices or treating employees as human beings isn't a Western world, it's a civilized one.
Is that right?
I know many Japanese who have contracts as part time employees and they are not informed of their legal holiday entitlement under the labour law and or even take any holiday entitlement, as many employees are ignorant of the law and when they are aware they feel they are breaking the harmony if they point out their legal right to their employers.

Yes, there are tons of instances where I remember watching something with AKB and as soon as it was like 9pm or 10pm or something, all the younger AKB members had to leave and go home. Minor laws seem to be followed without any problems by bigger idol groups. Not sure about the smaller ones though.
This is true, those of high school age must not work after 10pm.

This kind of clothing just suggests immaturity to me.
How much experience of Japan and Japanese women have you had?

It's always struck me like a re-hash of different pre-adolescent and adolescent fashions from the west from the 1920s to 1970s. It's like the clothes and styles you might adopt if you didn't want to grow up.
If you and other foreigners on here had any experience of the Japanese school system, you would realize that the Japanese are raised in an education system that robs them of their childhood.
So how do you expect them to act as adults?

Are you sure about it not being compulsory? What happens when your employer or the tax office demands your My Number when your tax return is filed?
Getting the photo ID card is optional but, not I think, using the number itself.
The paper notification cards are issued prior to the system being introduced next January, at that time employers are obliged to collect my numbers from their employees and their dependants.
In January everyone will have the option to have a My Number photo ID card.
But everyone has to think long term about this system, as it starts as a voluntary system and then in time it will be made compulsory along with linking it to bank accounts.
Imagine that, you are issued with a number that contains, everything, Tax, Income, Medical Records, Bank Account and later purchase information to claim back the 2% sales tax increase.
What else will that require to be recorded on the card?
But it must not be forgotten that every household will also be fitted with a smart meter from next year.
