Posted in: Trump attacks on judiciary raise safety concerns for judges See in context

One woman wrote: “Open ur home to them if anything happens to anyone in this country like 911 there (sic) blood is on your head, and I will remember to rip u one.” Another said, “who in your family is expendable Robart?”

Hmm I wonder if Trump would accept any blame if something bad happens to this judge or his family? (I'm guessing he would not...)

This is what happens when you poke the right-wing bees nest.

She's playing a dangerous game. After observing a very messy first 2 weeks of the Trump administration (if you can call it an administration), voters might be very wary about electing someone who's banging the same drum, lacking any real experience to run a country.

I can tell you this now without any doubt, my parents are not going to have a clue what the typhoon symbols mean when they see that. Just write FLUSH underneath it - in japan, everything is made for convenience - so why is it so easy to open a riceball but so complicated to go for a pee??

Everyone seems to think England's going down the crapper...

Does anybody remember PIGS ? How about the refugee crisis? Islamic State terrorist attacks in France, Germany, Belgium ?

I'm not saying England doesn't have her problems, but let's just see how 2017 pans out for Europe shall we ? We have the Dutch national election in March, and then the French and German elections after that.

Posted in: Republican-led Senate takes first step to repeal 'Obamacare' See in context

Is this based on their disdain of Obama or their fear of universal healthcare making them look like communists ?

Republicans have a track record of doing ZILCH about healthcare. Look at what Reagan did (didn't do rather) about Mental Health, blocking funds for mental health programs and turning patients out on to the streets. It's ironic that dear old Ronald ended up getting shot by John Hinckley, a guy with untreated schizophrenia.

Posted in: In 2015, Japan accepted 27 refugees, including three Syrians, after some 7,500 people from 69 countries sought such status in Japan, according to the justice ministry. Do you think Japan should take i See in context

Obviosly 27 is far less than japan can handle, but I agree with some of the reasons why people are voting no.

Looking at Europe now, we can see that some countries have taken on too many refugees than can be realistically integrated into their society.

I dont think its right that Japan depends on the rest of the world to buy its products but then says FU when other countries need help.

Having said that, as we've talked about before here, Japan has a real shortcoming in how it deals with things like teaching Japanese to foriegners, workplace safety, mental health... I just don't think we're ready to take on any refugees

I agree with you Joe, this message shows what a child he really is - he's holding grudges with the peolple who went against him - you'll see ZERO bipartisanship from Trump.

Having said that, I think he's entitled to do what he likes in his private time until January 20th 2017.

Everyone please be careful as The Japan Meteorological Agency has issued a warning of an another possible similar quake that can hit the same area in a few days time. But I am relieved that the damages due the quake are quite minimal and no one is seriously injured.

Seriously ? In the same area? In-laws live up there and we're heading up there from today :(

OK fine, give the money back Korea.

I read an article written by a Tokyo University professor who went to Souel to speak with university students there. He wanted to hear their thoughts about what Japan could do to atone for it's past - he was shocked by what he heard....

They basically told him that if Korea can occupy Japan for 35 years then all will be fine and dandy.

He came back to Japan understanding that there is nothing Japan can do to satisfy the 'Korean Ire'

deadbeatlesDEC. 27, 2016 - 03:20AM JST ...c'mon... this is truly laughable. You're all taking this far too seriously. How many presidents, secretary's of state, nobel prize winners, token positioned politicians, etc, etc... have been lauded as having negotiated peace between Palestine and Israel? This is like filling a paved highway pothole with sand... Wake up.

I have to agree with !

Realizing M.E. Peace is like solving a Rubik's cube without any limbs.

The way Israel snidely builds on occupied land, while at the same time negotiating to dismantle settlements built on occupied land, while at the same time building on other occupied land reminds of Russia games with it's little green men in Crimea.

Not everyone will agree with me but I think Israel is the main obstacle to peace in the ME.

¥200,000 isn't even really that much. If I was going to commit aggravated robbery, I would be hoping to get more than that for sure.

As it comes to the end of the month, I start collecting what I'm owed. I keep the money in my business 'bag' and then take it to the bank. I don't find it strange that he was carrying ¥200,000 in a bag.

To be honest, I think it's a good thing that Japan has taken the initiative to do this kind of thing. The carbon footprint of the average Japanese person is half that of an American (my facts come straight from 'before the flood' documentary so excuse me if they're completely accurate).
