You might not like how it works here but it's very black or white - there's no gray zone in Japan so you can't go around punching people.

It's the reasons that I very rarely see fights here, and I'll put my hand up and say that I like it much better this way.

HopeSpringsEternalToday  11:01 am JST

Even appearance of corruption or unethical behavior can be politically toxic or even fatal. Navalny and Biden have been compromised by their backers. Evidence and testimony - overwhelming. Mr. Trump, while certainly flawed is not a puppet of others. Trump's TRUE appeal.

> Evidence and testimony

Ahhh 'Evidence and testimony', yes yes, the FBI informant who was just charged for lying to the FBI about Biden's bribery (nothing-burger) scandal.

Great result with City dropping points.

Arsenal and liverpool banging in the goals.

It's so much more fun to have attacking-minded managers in the game, rather than those that just park the bus.

Any government that put restrictions on elderly drivers would be shooting themselves in the foot come election day. I guess we'll just have to wait for technology to fill the hole.

If he goes to real Madrid as expected, they're going to be even more interesting to watch.

I just worry about his ego...

He is a sicko.

Does anyone know what kind of hotel it was?

If it was a 'love hotel', they should also be held acocuntable, in my opinion.

3rd year junior high school students would have just finished taking tests to decide which high school they're going to get into - lots of pressure from school and parents.

Posted in: NATO chief calls on Europe to ramp up arms production See in context

Well, many countries in Europe send more aid to Ukraine than the US, relative to GDP.

I've seen those numbers and that shouldn't be downplayed, it WAS a big boost for Ukraine.

I wrote that in the past tense because the Europeans don't have much more to give because they've been too slow / unwilling to act, thinking this was going to be a short war in Europe.

USA is currently the only country (on our side) that can give Ukraine what they need to defend their front lines over the next 2 years.

Someone please stop City from winning 4 in a row.

I am really rooting for Liverpool or Arsenal this season.

Posted in: NATO chief calls on Europe to ramp up arms production See in context

Yes, we need to boost military spending in Europe.

No more depending on America for defence, those days are over as we see with the current situation with the promised military aid packages currently held up in the US congress.

I actually think this is a good thing for Europe in the long run, but they better get their act together and ramp up production AND set up their private sector so it can do MORE in times of war.

Posted in: Anger over Messi's absence in Hong Kong game spreads: Argentina friendly in mainland China canceled See in context

Of course the Chinese government would do that ...

It's probably also related to the new Argentian president's decision to put out of the BRICS expansion.

I can imagine Xi has been thinking about 100 ways to get back at Argentina for that.

Hmmm tough choice ...

Shall I risk getting an injury playing against Chinese players who play rough, or wait and play against less physical Japanese players who know it's just a friendly and will enjoy the occasion?

But in general, is it not true that most people have less of a desire for sex as we age?

I'm going to wager that city will go on a run from now to the of the season. I was hoping Liverpool would win it because they're playing some good footy, but the way they played against arsenal is telling.

The Saudi league will be dead in a few years, same as the Chinese league.

Those players who went there are starting to see that it's just a pipedream.

It's all about the audience, ie THE FANS - you can't just tell Saudis "hey listen, you will start liking football now, ok?"

Posted in: 3 foreign-born residents sue over racial profiling by Japanese police See in context

I've been quizzed a few times in my 20 years here.

The first time, I was riding my wife's bicycle that was very short so I understood that one.

The second time was after a knife rampage at a station along my line so they were randomly stopping guys with backpacks.

The third time was bizarre. The police officer asked for my ID, we chatted for bit and he admitted that he wanted to practice his English in that scenario because he'd just had a lesson on it.

My non-white foreign friends have been stopped way more than me so it's pretty easy for us to see that racial profiling is a thing here.

Apparently, quite a few of the professional footballers who were swooned over there with buckets of cash have now come to their senses and want to leave.

It must be a real shocker when you're used to playing in front of tens of thousands of people in Europe one day, and then a few hundred people in the Saudi "Pro" league the next.

Nedal is going to lose a lot of respect for renting out his name for this Rafa Tennis Academy.
