Exactly Himajin.

Ye gods, I hate the protectionist, monopolising, downright greedy and unfair strategies of Japans cell providers. I miss the days of being back home where I can buy a phone from anywhere, and as long as its the right frequency I can just throw my sim in there and bin the old phone or sell it on. These kind of strategies harm the customer, restrict trade, and in the long run doesnt help the providers, because sooner or later, a better option nmay come along. Heres hoping someone comes along and undercuts the lot of them and forces them to drop the prisoncontracts.

Well, it was a business hotel not a rabuho...But yeah, I agree, I dont see how she dodged anything. The title says alot and the article doesnt explain why she dodged anything.

She must need a pretty good disguise if she wants to get around with any guy on a date or something. Social life could be political suicide, politics is social suicide...well for a hottie like her. She is georgeous, and quite young to be in politics. But she is just a councilwoman after all.

How can someone be too beautiful to be a poltician? It shows Japanese attitudes to gender roles are still messed up.

But I almost agree its seems a shame such a beautiful girl is working in such an ugly business with all those ojisan nobs. Do they sexually harass her and make her fetch the tea, or does she have a pretty boy assistant to do her bidding?

for the record, she does NOT have fat thighs, the pose is terrible all spread-eagled with one leg half cocked makes her look wide. Her legs are nice, not tooth picks. she is slim while not being a bag of bones.

The Obi however, is definitely to wide, and makes her look like she has no waist. and definitely , this is tacky, its like a kimono that flashes open from the waist down and shows the crotch...oh wait, that's exactly what it is. Its nothing inventive, its just a cheap trick to flash panties and over sexualize the kimono. Also I agree the make-up is terrible and makes her face look round. There are tons of ways they could use a kimono to make her sexy, beautiful, and demure, rather than just a crotch shot.

Hell, even a similar design with a miniskirt underneath, the design as it stands is like a modification for easy access.

All things said and done though...crotch shot = yum but does not = Ms.Universe win.

I wonder if back home it would be difficult to find a suitable charge for this type of thing, as it can be argued that it doesn't happen often enough, while it seems to be a pass-time here. Most likely they could only fit it with a sexual/ indecent assault charge.

Really, to think this isn't a problem in Japan more than other countries is to be in denial. This and a plethora of other weirdo fetishist intrusions upon women. Just yesterday my friend had her underpants, bra and bikini stolen from her clothesline on the veranda while she slept, weeks earlier there was an attempted break in... She now knows ( even though she is Japanese), that in Japan , it is not even safe for a women to live on the first floor of an apartment building. Oh but wait, then there was the guy who climbed up the balconies to the 3rd floor or whatever to rape a young woman.

There are too many sexual predators here, full stop. We need sexual education classes at elementary school level, and at all companies it seems too. Teach these sad losers what is, and is not ok in a modern society, and why.

I thought those were good observations of the some of the most infuriating aspects of Japan. But it is also correct that it is something we need to to understand and get by with. The foreign nail that sticks up will be plucked and chucked.

JenniferKim...If that is your only experience with them then why the ridiculous statement above? I've been pulled over for a ticketable offence in my car,I spoke Japanese, (I have no JLPT score, I can just converse in Japanese reasonably well). I was polite, apologised that my japanese wasnt better, listened to what they said, told them that I didnt know that it was a Ticketable offence and apologised again. They were polite, only ever asked what country I came from and how long I had been in Japan (perfectly normal questions), and they let me off with a warning and a Ki wo tsukette.

I think if you are nervous or cocky with cops, they will make things difficult for you, with good reason, If you are respectful, and not beligerant, they will be fair. Some of us may have run ins with Jerk cops, but hey, I bet they run into jerks at a much higher frequency than us.

I really think most of the horror stories about Jcops have some very extenuationg circumstances almost every time. But then it gets blamed on racism, Japaneseness, and whatever else isnt related to our own behaviour.

Nigelboy, i know you like nitpicking and flaming anything that offends your adopted country, but you can be a bit full of it sometimes mate. I have had conversations in Japanese in my home country with Japanese people where they referred to the locals as Gaijin, including me, even to my face. I did politely remind them, that there, they are the Gaijin, and after a stunned-mullet face lasting 20 seconds they clicked and understood. Its important to keep in mind that we are the visitors when we are abroad and that we reflect on our compatriots that follow us. A little research into customs of wherever you are going makes sense, but so many people just buy tickets, sunscreen, and pack theier bags as a sum total of thier preparation. Or buy pre-packaged tour group deals. I really admire the Japanese friends I have made abroad that buck this stereotype and go out to experience real life, not the sanitized, safe, Japanese bubble version. Nigey boy, you don't have to jump on every criticism of Japan/japanese so vehemently, sometimes its just true, because they are not perfect, even if you are a fanboy. Just because you don't see something does not discount its existence. All in all most of us like Japan etc but are comfortable with constructive criticism or honest frustration with unpleasant realities. Dont put the disgruntled ALTs in the same bag as all of us, thanks.

I beleive a 'hit and run' involves pedestrians. Who traslates these? Its a case of 'fleeing teh scene of an accident'. If the penalties werent so Draconian here, people wouldnt flee. People get away with straight up murder for less. ALl the same, shame on him for running away.

Tokyohustler* helps keep the world's greatest nation performing. There is no peer to America's high speed rail network. None.

OOps I think I just threw up in my mouth a lil bit from that patriotic garbage. Again, to repeat what Northlondon said, Why is everyone harping on about America on a story that concerns Britain and a Japanese company. Are you lot that obsessed with yourselves? Are all the MOds Americans too?

By the way ... worlds greatest what? 83rd safest where? Economic what? Give me a break, there are a score of countries I would rate as better for as many different reasons as you lot use as claims to fame.

Good for BRITAIN getting those JAPANESE trains, that The U.S don't have and will never get. Rant Done. Sumimasen. Slow day.
