Posted in: Hatoyama blames bureaucrats for his failure on Futenma issue See in context

****Mr. Hatoyama is what we call a scapegoater in my field of psychology. Hatoyama's personality and his inability to deliver on promises concerning the Futenma issue and then falls from the top job. Then blames the bureaucrats. First of all, the Hatoyama govenment failed to formulate a solid foreign or national security policy because of the fundamental differences with the SDP, which had strong pacifist tendencies. In short, he never defined this concept or his expectation for the future of the alliance in concrete terms. Second of all, there was a lack of expert input in formulating foreign and national policy He was not realistic in making assessments because of the lack of expertise of the personnel in the Hatoyama government and the Prime Minister's Office. It will be critical to increase getting more support and understanding from the Okinawans and that they define the importance of the U.S-Japan alliance continually since the present of the U.S. is necessary in the region. In the long term, the alignment of forces in the region should be adjusted as the security situation evolves. I understand that this is a complex problem and can be touchy and emotional, but let me get back to the issue about Mr. Hatoyama, who moved the blame and responsibility away from himself and blamed the bureaucrats. This is a practice by which angry feelings and feelings of hostility may be projected, via vilification, blame and critcism; he's likely to suffer rejection from those who the perpetrator seeks to influence. Scapegoating has a wide range of focus from "approved" enemies of large groups of people down to the scapegoating of individuals. Distortion is always a feature. So, Mr. Hatoyama should take responsibilty and be accountable for his actions. Be a real man. Unfortunately, Japan has a poor track record when it comes to the selection of a Prime Minister. It's like a merry-go-round. Mr. Kan may not even last. Just wait until the coming election.

Hula is life for Aureana. She continues to touch the community in a very unique and engaging way as she shares Hula which communicates all that she feels, smells, touches and tastes, She shows her gratitude and acknowleges that by dancing the Hula with the background of chants. But most important of all the beautiful culture of Hawaii is preserved and passed on through Hula in some small way by the exhibition with its many forms and being able to emerge in the spirit and soul of Hula. We are so proud to have her as the Ambassador of Aloha and may she continue to share a part of nature from the lovely islands of Hawaii.

Smoking and obesity is such deadly combination. Heart disease is the leading cause of disease among smokers. It's hard on the heart and causes a multitude of diseases that ultimately leads to disability and/or death. Cigarette smoke contains over 400 chemical compounds, 200 are known to be poisonous and over 60 are identified as carcinigens. The effects of smoking are so widespread and destructive. It affects you from head to toe and has a very negative impact on our health. Cigarettes snuff out life at a alarming rate. 20 percent of obese adults smoke in the United States. Obese smokers face a greater risk of death from cancer and circulatory disease. Current smoking is a greater risk factor for death by cancer than obesity is generally speaking. The higher a person pack-years, the greater the risk of death. Men and wome of all ages faced a elevated risk of death due to circulatory disease as BMI increased. It's not suprising that obesity coupled with smoking is a recipe for trouble. Put your health at the top of your list of priorities and resolve to begin changing your lifestyle for the better. Don't ever think it's too late for you to quit smoking, and don't waste time any more on your life smoking cigarettes. smoking offer you absolutely nothing of value. Take back your life. Racial pride can be harmful to society especially when one person or groups of people of one race think that their race is better than others. Racial slurs or slang is always degrading and disrespectful. For someone to say racial slurs to another individual is uncalled for and can cause another problem, fighting. I think racial slurs are commonly told to others because of the person's pride. Stop the hate, do not be a hater, you have a choice to stop the rage. The United States is a melting pot of different cultures and races therefore the beliefs, values and traditions for each race are different, unique and special in their own way. All of us are humans living on this planet daily striving for better futures and want more out of life. We the people should stick and work together instead of hating and fighting. After all, we're all the same and created from the same primortal mix of life, just trying to survive on a daily basis.

Posted in: The great Tokyo Michelin sham See in context

There are really two types of French food. Restaurant food and home-cooked food. Restaurant food is sophiticated and often quite rich, with many dishes containing cream, butter, and sugar. This food is for special occasions. On the other hand French family food is usually lighter and certainly healthier as it is based on grains such as bread, pasta and vegetables, small amounts of meat, fresh fruits and dairy products. French cuisine offers a wide variety with many light and many rich dishes. It is a question of choice, occasion and moderation. Hands down my choice is mochiron Japanese food any day. I can eat it everyday and is generally healthier. It's in my blood. Then comes probably Chinese, Korean, Italian, Mexican food. Sorry but French food is at the bottom of my list. Don't depend on Michelin ratings for restaurants, Word of mouth is the best. Ask someone you know. The odds are better if they know your taste.

Posted in: Hokkaido schoolgirl commits suicide, blaming bullying See in context

The sad part is that bullying has always been a problem in Japan. They need to educate the school teachers more and the community and the parents need to have a closer relationship with their own child. It's terrible but being more sensitive and aware of the students behavaviot is extremely important for the teacher. The Principal of the school and the school counselor need to be more on top of this issue. They should perhaps also educate the students on these matters also. The most important thing in this world are relationships wheather it's within the home, between spouses, friends, students and teachers, principal. It is important. We can all work on being more considerate and sensitive to other peoples needs.
