Posted in: How would you evaluate U.S. President Barack Obama's first 100 days in office? See in context
Not good. He is something of a showman (show-off) and I am waiting to see what he will really do. The stats say he is doing well but stats do not tell all. Stats are biased. Most in my community are not pleased but there is nothing we can do about it.

I am so glad that most are taking precautions. We certainly would not want a repeat of 1918. First global warming, then the economy and now this what in the world is going on?

Posted in: Unresolved debate: Does torture work? See in context
It depends upon the strength of the person and the threshold of pain. I would hope that no amount of torture would lead me to deny my faith or country. If anyone has read Fox's Book of Martyrs, Martyrs Mirror or any of the myriad accounts of torture during war, you will find that torture does not seem to work.

Masks are not a bad idea. I wish this custom would become popular in the US. I work at a desk and have been sneezed and coughed on so much that it is a wonder that I am still here. Every time some one coughs or sneezes in my direction, I hope and pray that they do not have TB.

Won't work, Mr. President. I wish it could work but it doesn't. Turn your back on your 'enemy' and see what happens.

Not good, Cuba is way too close to our shores for comfort. Much like N.Korea is way to close to Japan for comfort.

"And no, obesity is NOT a disease. It is a condition resulting from the average American's poor education, dietry habits and lack of exercise.
Not entirely true. I am an average American with a good education, good eating habits, and I exercise. I am not obese but I am not model thin either. I do not know what the answer is for those struggling with obesity however it seems heathier foods are very expensive and the cheaper foods are the fattest. I know you should see my grocery bills. Healthy foods are pricey even at the farmers markets.

It's a game that some older children enjoy. Nothing wrong with a game like that. The different versions add a little excitement to the game. I do find this game boring but to each his own.

Gun control does not work for those who intended to maim or kill. They will find a way to get gun even with the most stringent laws. I am saddened for the families in Germany and in Alabama.
