Posted in: Heat wave poses challenge to medical system already hit by virus See in context

medical workers worry that the similarity of symptoms to COVID-19 may place extra pressure on a health care system already creaking under the strain of the coronavirus pandemic.

It would be nice if the journalists and the government could get their story straight honestly.

"Creaking"

Is there a problem here with Covid19 or not? Do the fatality numbers even closely represent reality?

Everything seems 100% BAU except extra mask wearing, the govnerment encourages travel, the tests are always trending down; however the medical system is is creaking from Covid19?

I've learned to except the complete weirdness of being stuck in Japan during this pandemic only because, what else can you do? It's absolutely bonkers.

@Monty, even if that were remotely accurate, it would be hardly possible to produce and administer that many dosses in such a short time frame, and no one is going to rush something like that just for the Olympics sake.

Thanks for urging us to stay home Koike! Now I urge you to do something about it so I don't have to loose the next several long weekends, or worse.

@Jax,

There is absolutely no way I will listen to her urges. They don't allow me to go back home for Christmas, I am gonna "go to travel" the hell out of Japan domestic wise.

While taking precious measures like washing my hands, of course.

It's this type of attitude which will likely result in new lock down laws being instated. I don't want a lockdown, but I also think people just go over the top with "challenging the system".

The blame game needs to stop, it's everywhere, this is not helpful to blame hosts, ridiculous.

Posted in: Tokyo reports 67 COVID-19 cases; highest since state of emergency lifted See in context

Everybody’s’ focus has been only on the new cases. No mention at all on the decrease in deaths.

Hopefully there is a decrease, but even a very basic person understands that you'd rarely die within 24 hours.

Sadly first comes the positive test result and depending on how a person reacts, it can take up to three weeks before dying.

So there will be a spike in cases, then deaths to follow after that.

And no word in the fact that the death rate plummeted completely, with a lower death rate than that of march, many days with 0 deaths, the fact that most of the new cases are from asymptomatic people, and the fact that the PCR test methodology changed... No, let's only focus in "big numbers bad"

This is all assuming that, the real number is only 68 and that all the deaths so far are being accurately reported and there isn't a delay on autopsy results, which ofc will take longer than the tests.
