A revolution doesnt need violence, guns or blood. A revolution in politics needs new people, younger people with new ideas, ready to make a real change in the mind of their connationals, there are many things to be changed in Japan, but the point is... who will dare to begin?, who will be a leader in a country where nobody wants to tell their own opinion?. Many young japanese people are studying abroad, and they learn many things and when they are comming back to Japan they bring all the energy a dn their ideas for change, after the plane land... they turn their mind and set the "japanese mode on", and then they start their career following the typical parametres. What happened?..., nobody knows. But if you are foreigner, have good educational skills and have kids born in these country (with japanese nationality), teach them to be leaders and that they must follow their beliefs and own mind... nobody knows, maybe this is a good beggining for this country.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH... are you joking?....

Japanese version of Obama?, It is not possible, because in Japan there is no universal vote, it means Prime Minister is not elected by the people, "HE" (because always will be a "HE") is elected for the old diet "shoguns", who will choose somebody who will match their same conservative and never innovative mind. On the other hand, remember... Mr. Obama is black..., so do you think is it possible for the son of a japanese and a foreigner?, i don't believe it possible... there are thounsands of brazilians, koreans, chinese, some americans, some europeans, then do you think seriously that the average japanese citizen could vote for the son of a foreing man?... This country need a revolution... a really radical revolution like 1789 in France, after this please make yor question again.

Actually China don't need America in any way, probably i could say America will need China someday, because now as you see world's economy is cracking down anywhere but China is OK. I'm sure they will continue growing in the same way becoming stronger economically than U.S., then the question is... Would China be interested to deal or to be Japan's ally?.

Posted in: Microsoft says next Windows won't be as annoying See in context

Your words "Linux is a better alternative to windows", but not "LINUX IS BETTER THAN WINDOWS", you could say this, if you really believe Linux is really good, isn't it?, but you don't, and by the other hand the using of alternative only remarks you are an outsider. On the other hand "Linux doesn't fight against a uniform and better way, linux is the uniform and better way", sorry dude, only in your dreams, because if you can understand some simple stadistics... more people in the whole world use and preffer to use windows, around 93-95%.

what percentage of people want something like Linux? And how many Linux users are there out there? I’ve read about a number of different ways to tabulate this sort of thing, and they all suffer from different methodological issues; Web server statistics on visitors, for instance, aren’t very reliable because the client can claim it’s any kind of OS or browser it wants.

With Windows, it’s at least possible to guess based on the number of licenses sold, or the number of activated machines, etc. With Linux, it’s far harder to guess because of things like biased self-reporting, redundancy, and the lack of a really reliable set of metrics. If I have a Linux box and a Windows box, does that count in one, the other, or both, or neither? And if I download ten distributions but don’t actually use any one of them in a fulltime production system, does that count?

This is why the Dell / Ubuntu sales figures are going to be immensely interesting, because they’ll provide at least some indication of how things are shaping up for Linux -- at least within Dell’s ecosystem. It’s probably not going to be a reliable guide as to how Linux is faring overall on the desktop, since that’s not something you could gauge from any one vendor’s sales -- Dell’s sales probably do not extrapolate smoothly into desktop sales in general. It’s also not going to tell us how many people obtain such machines but don’t actually run Linux on it in the long run -- some folks might buy such a box to get a taste of Linux, then wipe it and install Windows (or even BSD) after a few months.

That’s something else that is going to be tough to measure, even for a company like Dell: Long-term commitment to Linux, especially by people who are not interested one way or another in its technical merits. I’ve received many comments from people who have picked up Ubuntu or another distribution and sworn off ever going back to Windows. That’s great, but I always wonder: Will they still say the same thing in a year? I don’t ask these questions to be snide -- I just think that if Linux wants to work well on the desktop (notice I didn’t say “replace Windows,” just “work well”), there needs to be at least some attention paid to why a user might defect, or how long they stick around before doing so (and what pushes them off).

Remember, around 93-95% of the people in the world uses windows, there must be a reason isn't it?. So, please think better before says something hilarious like "linux is the uniform and better way". It would be like saying "is better to speak greek and refuse learn/use english, living in U.S., only a blind would said so.

Linux is for outsiders, who pretend to fight against an uniform and better way. If we adopt an unique OS, everything will be easier, because being universal it will be at first accesible (because if you use the uncomfortable "word" in linux, you can not open a doccument in a PC with windows or pictures i.e.), by the other hand, it will be less expensive, because being globally accepted it reduces costs. But of course, for some people is better to be an outsider saying something like: "i like rainny days, because i like to use coat, when almost everybody preffer a sunny day and of course not to use a coat". Ok, you hate Billy Gates, obviously you envy him, but don't pretend to say LINUX is better than windows or something foolish about MAC, because everybody knows... only ladies like Sarah Jessica Parker and and pretentious people who pretend to be cool own a MAC.

J-men need to learn more than that, at first maybe learn to be more well-mannered, learn that gropping women in trains is not right behavior and finally understand that a woman is not a thing. After that probably they could learn the meaning of "new" words like "love" and "beautyful". Of course, the lessons include some sensibilisation classes about their history, including the "Nanking Massacre" for example. The complete pack course includes a rubber doll to pratice the new words and attidudes.

So... please give us a break. And for the people complaining about Automatic Update and sily details like that... YOU CAN DISABLE THAT FUNCTION, if it bothers you, then maybe you should buy a manual or learn how to use your pc at first isnt it?.

The truth is:

Japan WILL NEVER HAVE A BAND AS ROLLING STONES, THE CLASH, THE SMITHS, RAMSTEIN, PULP, COCTEAU TWINS, JESUS AND MARY CHAIN, NEITHER PEOPLE LIKE MOBY, MORRISSEY... AND LOTS OF MORE..., the reason... it's simple, these people can create, have own brain to compose, to make own lyrics and found their own sound..., and opinion... but Japan is a big Xerox machine and they only make bad copies of duran duran, back street boys, britney and all that brainless rap/hip hop people..., then is easy to know... only buble gum and childish pop oriented to a lamb society, hungry to listen about cuteness and pretty things, meanwhile their freaks kill people in the streets... in conclusion, Japan needs stupid music to make their freaks relax and calm down... they dont need music to think, they need sedate their freaking neurotic people.

Posted in: What do you think of Japanese pop and rock music? Heard anything you like? See in context

I agree with muniqui19.

At first almost all Japanese pop music sounds like females singing in the same way: waaaaaaaaaaaaa, wa wa wa wa waaaaaaaaaaaaa, wa wa wa wa waaa waaa waaa waa wawawawawawa, and thats all, most of them cute, but not ussually sexy. They dont have a Mariah Carey or Leona Lewis, because all want to sing as 7 years old girls (for example: YUKI), about Ayumi Hamasaki and Kumi Koda, they are little different of course, but they are mainstream and puppets of their companies, too much make up and not too much clothes, after they get 30's they will be "dead", about Hikaru Utada, maybe because she is a "real" songwritter, probably is one of the most acceptable, but never think you will listen songs like "You oughta know" of Alanis Morrisette, or any female vocalist like Siouxsie Sioux of Siouxie & the Banshees, because all must be cuteness, love and sugar.

The only female singer acceptable and important for me is Shiina Ringo, in the middle point between maistream and indie, but i'm so sorryi have to accept sometimes she abuses of the Waaaaa Waaaa Wa Wa Wa Waaa Wa... but her lyrics and style are the most valuable here, because she doesnt belongs to the "kawaii world".

About electronic music... forget the trance, because almost all sounds useful to play DDR or jump as idiot in para-para style, almost no one respectable DJ (and forget DJ OZMA, he is a moron, and i am sure he can't make a mix), then... no trance, drum and bass almost 0... only in the house/chill out scene you can find an interesting act like Kyoto Jazz Massive, but i am really sorry to say... dont expect to find a Little Louie Vega, Dimitri From Paris, Miguel Migs or Armin Van Buren... we have to be realistic. Maybe in Synth Pop (yes, Synth Pop)... it gets interesting if you hear something from SOFT BALLET, their first singles sound too much like depeche mode and camouflage, but their lately recordings are more original and you could say they've found their own sound.

About Heavy Metal, Hard Rock, Gothic, Grunge, Punk... man, we are talking about Japan, do you think is it possible here, when the vocalist say "yoroshiku" and "arigatou" before and after playing, at this point we have to be cruel, but honest... only long hair, make up, makenting and leather clothes, thats all, thats all... any teenagers garage band in Seattle at the end of 90's, even Hanson or Jonas Brothers are more authentic and.... manly.

Hip hop...., this is no music, nobody can sing, nobody plays any instrument (in every country is the same, then no comments), we are talking only about gorgeous babes shaking their asses.

And about boy bans.... hahahahaha, please we are talking only about pretty-boy group look, whose use more make up than your girlfriend, dressed like hairdressers, dancing around and each one takes a turn saying a line or two, they sing a chorus, dance, repeat it all again, then please remember BOYS II MEN (THEY REALLY CAN SING!!!!) or N'Sync, ok i hate them, but one or two of them are pop mega-stars, one of the SMAP boys, could sing... alone... without using studio technology?... I GUESS NO... even about the lyrics... we are talking about more company puppets, then you wont never see a japanese version of George Michael (gay or not) singing something like "I want your sex" or somebody like Morrissey (absolutely impossible) or somebody like Iggy Pop singing "I want to be your dog".

Final balance... continue buying music from the same bands/artists you did before move to Japan and... try to go to Shimokitazawa, sometimes you can find a interesting indie band from Japan, and try to buy their home made album, because you wont see it never in HMV.

I am Catholic and my son (half western/half japanese) is catholic, meanwhile my wife is still keeping her traditional religion, when i talked to her abour our son's religion she was afraid about he could not visit shrines, i said "of course he can visit because is a part of her cultural heirness, but visit only as an historic or cultural building, but not like a religious place to pray or honor god, just like i do when i go there", she didnt found it as a problem, until she asked "ok, but what will happen when we are dead, we could not be buried together in a shrine, and could he pray for us there, could not?". At this point i didnt found a right answer, because at first i never thought about die and be buried in Japan, neither be buried in a shrine. Now i am thinking seriously about introduce my wife into catholicism, having in mind she is interested in how we celebrate Holy Week and Christmas.

****Naruki Oni; If you can`t see the danger from the countris you must not know about their ambitions.

The US is the only country that can keep thm at bay, and keep the free states of Asia free. Us does this , to spread freedom and ensurepeace in Asia. Wow! What a generous country we are.

I am a total patriot buddy! Way to go USA!!!!

This is the most ridiculous and stupid commen i have read ever. Who gave americans the right to decide (help????!!!) wich country is in danger?, and who gave told them that they are the protector of the freedom of the world?. What freedom?. They are killing thousands of people in Irak, old people, children and women..., are they releasing them?.... II WW is over and Japan is not an american colony anymore, so why Japan should support american interests about China or the rest of Asia?, WITH OUR TAXES!!!. By the way everybody knows that the G.I's in american bases in Japan, most of them are ussually army's trash... all those that were trouble in other places, it means, anyway in case, they are no competent or responsable and its very easy to notice, always they do something stupid (being drunken, bothering women...). They should leave Japan... THEY MUST LEAVE JAPAN!!.
