True Okinawa. I assuming you are American. Unless you are 100 percent native american, you or your ancestors immigrated to the U.S. too. What gives with the selfishness? Was taking immigrants after WW2 and the Viet Nam war stupidity?

The changes are most likely caused by the stress from trees worrying about radiation. Perhaps these trees have a view through a house window that shows fear mongering reports on tv.

Great. The Abe governmet can join Canadas Harper government as a totalitarian regime. Here in Canada scientists are muzzled from speaking the truth and if your organiztion (eg. bird watchers newsletter) speaks out against government policy, Harper sicks Revenue Canada on you for an audit. I dont know which government is worse. ABe should compare notes with Harper. Could shut those newspapers up with an audit. Shoot! Gotta run. There is a knock on the door. Probably the Feds. Long live the union!

Hockey, hands down. The speed of the game cannot be matched. Soccer can be exciting if the players don`t take dives every five seconds.

What a joke. If anything, the whalers are the radical group, defying international law (or at least the spirit of it). They should be fined every time they hunt in international waters.

Posted in: In Japan, women are usually kept in hospital for up to a week after giving birth, while in the West, if there are no complications, mothers usually go home the next day, or even less, as was the case See in context

Yes, it is probably a money issue for the most part. However, I think culturally, it may be that Japanese men are nearly useless around the home and as soon as the woman comes back home, she would be right back to work, serving said useless husband. Could also be that young Japanese women are largely ignorant about child rearing, and the week in the hospital gives staff a chance to teach the new mothers a few things. I know my wife`s time in the hospital was quite informative.

After having been through the Fukushima disaster(s), take it from me, please have a plan. It could mean everything to you (and your family). Keep a stock of food, water and emergency supplies and have a rallying and exit plan in effect. Don`t be caught short.

Canada got rid of its penny. It sucks. Nine times out of ten the price gets rounded up. Consumers lose.

Just to name a few more.

“You can’t have a high-ranking country today if you’re not willing to face your past. They have to admit their failures. If they admit their failures, then by golly they deserve to have the best.” Not to diminish what these guys went through and what they achieved in WW2 but come on. Laying it on a bit thick considering what the U.S. has done. The llist of their atrocities is a mile long and no, they have not faced them openly and honestly.

This is a pretty narrow list. For one, grouping Tohoku into one place to visit is very odd. Tohoku is huge and each area has its own unique aspects. At the end of the article it mentions the late Alan Booth`s Roads to Sata. Written back in the 70s I think but it is a fantastic read. I highly recommend it.

Will have no impact. The majority of workers are still underemployed in part-time or temp postions with no benefits, and they will not see this increase. Mininum wage is still at horribly low levels. The government is trying to force inflation to make themselves look good at the expense of the little guy.
