Posted in: Why are so many Japanese women pigeon toed? See in context

There are a variety of reasons for "pigeon toedness" the most common in Japan most likely being weak hip muscles. When I was a little kid (many moons ago) my mom took me to the doctor. One of his first questions was to ask if I sat on the floor with my legs bent at the knees and splayed out behind me (called W sitting). Apparently this weakens the musculature within the hip. Those muscles play a big role in helping the average person walk with feet pointing forward. If you are really interested in this phenomenon here is a great article: https://skillsforaction.com/pigeon-toes-femoral-anteversion

However, I believe that here pigeon toedness, particularly in younger women, is a common thing here because it's accepted as being "cute" like the horribly mangled teeth and vampire fangs we see all too often. It's disempowering for women, to make them look infantile, to not care about how they carry themselves, after all...it really looks terrible. On the same note, why do grown men wear shoes that are a size too big and drag them when they walk making an absolutely horrible noise? Why do women here wear sandals a size or two too small so that their toes are splayed out the front? Why Japan...why?

Imagine being maimed being hit by a hot pot to the head...all the more ammunition for Japanese to claim pot is dangerous!

Good grief! That has got to be the most hare brained ideas of a sign I've ever seen: ステイ ホーム in katakana. What on earth were they thinking? Oh...that's right, they weren't!

By far the worst offenders are older gents who exude a scent called kareishū (加齢臭). Oooohhh...it's nasty. Don't know how the wife stands it!

Completely agree with jcapan – speed bumps will slow drivers right down! In Mexico there are speed bumps even in the middle of a highway where there are intersections, merges and such. Of course, they are located in rural neighbourhoods and local roads, too. Who cares if you have to slow down a little if it's going to save people from getting injured by recklessness. Saving lives goes without saying. Get on it Japan!

...for the latter is a narcotic that can lead users to heavier drugs such as cocaine and heroine. It’s more of a health issue than of a moral one.

Are you for real? Please educate yourself on the health benefits of Cannabis and CBD oil. Researchers are now understanding it is a kind of miracle drug.

Some of you posters are funny...giving the guy a death sentence with absolutely zero background information. What if the 44 year old (probably freeloading and mentally ill) son was a ne'er do well and violent? Typical knee-jerk reaction and posts from people who have never lived with a whacko or had to support anyone in their life.

Was in Nakano-ku last year waiting at an intersection. A couple J-cops were in front of me. One had his little police bag dangling on his holster by the bag’s handles and had something else in his hands. I looked at it in amazement and said to him “it’s going to be pretty hard if you have to pull your gun out with your bag hanging like that” They both looked at me like I was the crazy one! Clueless...simply clueless.
