@Uncle...

I suspect that the prosecutors have just no idea on how to manage a trial without a confession even though there might be somewhere bulletproof evidences.

Amateurs circus justice.

Posted in: U.S. charges Assange after London arrest ends 7 years in Ecuador embassy See in context

Assange is part of the HISTORY by revealing morally unacceptable financial behaviour.

He has spent already 7 year in visual jail in the Ecuador embassy.

I do not like this word, but he is a martyr of the denunciation of the world financial greediness and unfairness.

This is always the same story.

Prosecutors say they have bulletproof evidences but still need to forced confession.

They need to get out of the idea that a trial is a Disney Parade where they enjoy life celebrating victory.

All that extended detentions requested by prosecutors just remind me about all these useless unending meetings with half of my colleagues sleeping with zero conclusion.

Go for a drink together, nothing move without nomunication in Japan.

I did not know that the empress was a commoner (what a horrible word!) and I can imagine that was a real sign of modernity by that time.

Or does the Japanese throne does not care about that contrarily to European monarchies?

Posted in: Ghosn not getting much help from France, analysts say See in context

The situation is complex not to say embarrassing for the French government for 3 reasons:

1) Current political situation with mid/low income people demonstration (yellow vests).

2) Business success and bosses (patrons) have always been seen as suspicious mass exploitation even from small companies. Unlike sportsmen or artists that make 10-times more money just entertaining (this is a kind of global trend including in Japan).

3) And the most embarrassing is the involvement of France in Renault capital. The share increased (and doubling the voting right) a few years ago was made by Macron when he was MoF under previous government. That is what triggered really the Nissan reaction. Ghosn was against this and now he is paying for it. Then Ghosn is the scapegoat of Nissan and the French government, i.e. win-win (except for one).

Passport of entry is irrelevant for consular assistance.

I have two nationalities and I am registered in both consulates. My kids in three.

Posted in: France respects Japan's judicial procedures regarding Ghosn: Le Drian See in context

This is basically what he said (the interview was in French):

"I of course spoke about the the Ghosn case with my colleague," Le Drian told reporters after the end of the G7 meeting.

"I told him two things: That France respects completely the sovereignty and independence of the Japanese judiciary. And I also reminded him of our attachment to the presumption of innocence and the full rights of consular protection."

The emphasis was clearly on the second part of his comment (even though in a diplomatic manner).

Prosecutors say they have bullet proofs (written documents by Oman dealer apparently). So why detaining him longer for interrogation?

Well, the justice system has no modernised that much! Maybe it went even backwards actually.

He may have done PR deep remorses abroad but could not change the mindset his "subjects" about the grandness of Japan.

Posted in: Ghosn tweets he'll 'tell the truth' at April 11 news conference See in context

All this mess is simply because paying Ghosn at his worldwide market value was not acceptable in Japan and France. Then all kinds of arrangements agreed or not had to happen to keep him at the helm.

Making big money might look immoral but not illegal.

I am not downplaying any person right to express his/her opinion but direct democracy prerequisite is the ability to project oneself in the future to gauge the impact on yourself and the whole society.

Otherwise it just becomes a place to express frustration like in a bingo game.

This Brexit referendum is a clear study case for direct democracy in countries not used to it.

Bunkers that can resist nuclear bombing are all over the world for almost inexistent threat.

Tsunami bunkers can be built all over high risk areas as the need is for very short time, i.e 1-2 days maximum, so no need for heavy infrastructure or bedding. No excuse!

The number of applicants fell approximately 47 percent from the previous year to 10,493, with 42 of them granted asylum, up from 20, the Justice Ministry said.

40 granted asylum. I have been reading this already 20 times to check if my understanding was correct. Must be a typo, I should be reading 4,000, no?
