Posted in: TEPCO to decommission Fukushima Daini nuclear plant See in context

@ Don Palmer

Anybody can make down numbers.

We are talking about the decommissioning of a meltdown reactor. So far none has been done.

And this situation complicate the decommissioning of the less damaged units, i.e. no scale cost saving at all and more the contrary.

As far as I know Trump has not resolved anything so far. If I am wrong please provide facts.

But he is definitely unbeatable in the messing up arena.

I would like to see the breakdown of this USD 2.6 BN.

I do not believe it a second and it will last much more than 40 years.

Very conservative simple math:

40 years 365 days 8 hours 3 shifts 1000 people * USD 20.-/hour (nuke meat wage) = USD 7 BN

Not taking into account high tech material, nuke stuff disposal and monitoring for 100th of year and so on.

I bet it will be well above USD 100 BN at current JPY value.

@Alex80

You can always find quotes or articles sustaining your opinion by tweaking them out of context if necessary.

I do not enter this endless game.

I have been resident for at least 3 years in France, in Germany, in Japan and many 4 countries and even though not perfect, Europe is on its path to secure peace and collaboration.

And Brexit is just a temporary hiccup.

Posted in: Do you (or did you) worry about what your young children can view online? See in context

Worrying is useless because it will happen anyway.

Education and critical thinking is the only way to manage it.

For the very young ones unable of proper judgement (I would say around below teenager) , controlled internet access is quite critical.

@Alex80

First, Europe is not broken.

Secondly, Europe pacified very quickly after WWII mostly thanks to goodwill from France and Germany.

Third: Europe has integrated about 15 countries from the collapsed and poor former USSR block countries in record time in the past 30 years

Fourth: Even with right wings and populist governments - mostly from the latest integrated countries - there is nothing similar to the Japan-Korea usability to settle the situation for good.

Fifth: Europe has never been so stable in its history.

Of course the job is not completed. But many countries and leaders put their ego aside to move to the better.

the princess .... and thanked the Peruvian government and the people of Peru for welcoming immigrants from Japan since the first group arrived in 1899

And Japan cannot welcome back the descendants of these emigrants.

What is the point of this visit then?

Commercial rules abuse of power by the USA is a recurring thing.

A decade forcing others for free trade.

A decade a protectionism.

This has happened for a century regardless of the government.

Tatts are generally ghastly to look at,so polluting the water with ink is naturally not wanted.

Tatts under the skin polluting the water, seriously?

I would be much more scared by hair dying - which is very popular in Japan even for males - instead!

The whales are free of charge catches.

The minimum is to remove the subsidies.

Then I am sure the whales populations will be fine (except if whaling is to fill pet food can maybe...?).

An incomplete article, which triggers a huge bunch of wrong assumptions.

According to his lawyers he wanted to make a press conference right after his request to being allowed to contact his wife was rejected. To talk about this topic and nothing else.

Apparently his daughters persuaded him not to do it to avoid further retaliations by the Japanese justice system.

Inclusion makes sense only if the immigrant can have a hope to stay as permanent resident. The integration effort lies in both sides. What about Japanese learning proper English to deal with immigrants (most of them have the basics contrarily to even graduated Japanese)?

For the ones who do not like feminism.

Feminism is a reaction to gender inequalities. Abolish inequalities and feminism will disappear.

Easy to get rid of feminism, isn't it?

Just landed today in HK at 11:00 AM from business trip as a resident. 20 immigrations officers checking us at the plane door. Never ever have experience that. Can be coincidence with a suspect in the plane too. Still polite but they were clearly on the attack mode.

Hong Kong people and especially the young ones are admirable.

They are under massive Big Brother threat but still dare to confront democracy vs. dictatorship.

Hats off!

@ Hiro

With this kind of mindset we would still be in the dark age everywhere.

People stood up for freedom, a lot of them died, but at the end they made it. Our only task - for the ones who have the chance to enjoy it - is to keep it!

Mixing HK, France or Venezuela issues is a complete non-sense.

These HK people are the latest braves. Because they know the real threat. They have the biggest external antidemocratic pressure, with China eyes watching all their movement individually and they still dare resisting to this coming dictatorship. Hats off!

At the same time, well established democracies are self-destructing by voting for autoritarisme regimes or leaders (USA, Hungary, Japan, Italy, France, and so on ...)

We are in troubled moments excited by a few super powerful individuals. Keep calm and say NO!

SerranoToday  11:09 pm JST

China's communists can't be trusted even the SLIGHTEST bit. They will always -- ALWAYS -- do whatever they want and think they can get away with.

So Trump's policy of standing up to China's unfair trade practices is correct, right?

This HK demo has nothing to do with trade, which makes this post 100% out of topic, but not deleted by the moderator. And that is not the only one post. What a joke!
