Plea bargain is a judicial thing to avoid judicial sentence, but still remain a most likely guilt too if proven. How is Nissan going to handle that?

We are not talking about whistleblowers with high ethics here!

Japan wants to head off Trump’s threatened penalties on auto exports, which could tip it into recession, as well as any 'currency clause' directed at the Japanese yen. See in context

When USA does well: Threat all other countries to open their economy to USA stuff.

When USA does not well: close all borders with protectionism.

Look at history this is a 20 years standard cycle for USA. Complete self centred nationalistic selfishness. Nothing new at all!

We just need to crack down the only successful companies from USA: GAFA

A one-off inappropriate remark is pardonable. Bullying is a repeating psychological threat by toxic people that is sometimes very difficult to frame because always playing on the borderline of the acceptable social communication. These ones are the most dangerous ones.

USA does not need terrorists. They manage the self-destruction by themselves.

@ Fendy

And how to teach resilience (and independence)? That’s a key issue with the students, I believe.

By instilling trust in oneself and love.

In Geneva Switzerland by law you have to take at least once a year 2 full weeks of vacations.

I believe it is good for both the employees and the company.

Employees need to plan the leave, i.e. ensure high priority stuff done and minimum coworkers back up. Basically forced time management even for the ones struggling with that. No company paid courses will achieve this.

A-Bombing was a crime against humanity. Especially the second one as the superpower was already proved with the Hiroshima one.

@Uncle...

I suspect that the prosecutors have just no idea on how to manage a trial without a confession even though there might be somewhere bulletproof evidences.

Assange is part of the HISTORY by revealing morally unacceptable financial behaviour.

He has spent already 7 year in visual jail in the Ecuador embassy.

I do not like this word, but he is a martyr of the denunciation of the world financial greediness and unfairness.

This is always the same story.

Prosecutors say they have bulletproof evidences but still need to forced confession.

They need to get out of the idea that a trial is a Disney Parade where they enjoy life celebrating victory.

I did not know that the empress was a commoner (what a horrible word!) and I can imagine that was a real sign of modernity by that time.

Or does the Japanese throne does not care about that contrarily to European monarchies?

Posted in: Ghosn not getting much help from France, analysts say See in context

The situation is complex not to say embarrassing for the French government for 3 reasons:

1) Current political situation with mid/low income people demonstration (yellow vests).

2) Business success and bosses (patrons) have always been seen as suspicious mass exploitation even from small companies. Unlike sportsmen or artists that make 10-times more money just entertaining (this is a kind of global trend including in Japan).

3) And the most embarrassing is the involvement of France in Renault capital. The share increased (and doubling the voting right) a few years ago was made by Macron when he was MoF under previous government. That is what triggered really the Nissan reaction. Ghosn was against this and now he is paying for it. Then Ghosn is the scapegoat of Nissan and the French government, i.e. win-win (except for one).

Posted in: France respects Japan's judicial procedures regarding Ghosn: Le Drian See in context

This is basically what he said (the interview was in French):

"I of course spoke about the the Ghosn case with my colleague," Le Drian told reporters after the end of the G7 meeting.

"I told him two things: That France respects completely the sovereignty and independence of the Japanese judiciary. And I also reminded him of our attachment to the presumption of innocence and the full rights of consular protection."

The emphasis was clearly on the second part of his comment (even though in a diplomatic manner).
