That would be a hard no from me..

Given all the headwinds (normalization of rates, fairly stable yen, rising visitor numbers, Japan seen more and more as a "must see" tourist destination), the Nikkei may approach 50,000 by year end.

Just need a tad more immigration to service all those peeps.

Rates will stay low cos tech outbids all wage increases.

Look to Powell and others to follow Kuroda.

He is indeed unattractive to many posters here but is incredible at the same time.

Big fan here.

Kuroda is a hero here by not bending to outside forces.

Always easy to go with the flow.

Musk and Masayoshi Son is a combination of two who care little about profits but maybe can do great things together.

the world needs more of these people who truly want to make the world a better place.

Nearly 370 mil disposable cups used by coffee chains in Japan in 2020.

Spot the difference.

I support Greenpeace but they too should keep things real.

Encourage companies to offer a 10% discount for those folks who bring their own cups.

Softly softly should be the way forward.

Posted in: Kishida eyes talks with U.S. House Speaker Pelosi on Fri. See in context

Still, one would think that Pelosi's visit is a calculated move given that the Chinese are in the midst of their own "Lehman" moment. Lots of nervous homeowners in China and not just those with a mortgage. If China follows Japan's real estate bubble, many Chinese owners could see losses of over 50%,

For comparative purposes. the initial bailout for the USA real estate crisis was 700B but the current "known" China problem is north of 300B and we all know that the Chinese numbers are dodgy at best and are in all likelihood many times the figure reported in Chinese media.

I expect that social unrest in China will be a theme for the remainder of the year.

Great songs traverse generations and I am sure that there are a few getting written today that will still be around in 2070 or so.

Just a few.

It would add a bit of context if we knew why the child was born is Nepal.

Why isn't this info in the article?

Pretty unusual in my opinion.

On the surface this seems like a simple case of Japan being cruel.

I thought so too on an initial read but there is a lot to this story that is not being told.

This is one of those special times where a lot more relevant information is revealed in the comments section.

A lot less traffic on the trains these days when compared with 2019 levels. Seems a hard sell but with close to full employment, anything goes.

Hospital staff on the other hand have a real and urgent case to be heard. Their work conditions have obviously been under intense pressure the past couple of years.

What people aren't clearly explaining is that without the 3rd shot, you have to serve penance in a 12 sq. metre hotel for 4 days.

Well at least that was my experience. Just to confirm...a third shot gets you a walk while just 2 shots has you in a small hotel. Mine was APA.

Those guys are brutal.

Two way street here. They say housing costs 75000 but you can borrow 25 million and pay a similar fixed amount in repayments.

Yes, you need a job but unemployment isn't a problem....yet.
