Posted in: High yen could 'hollow out' Japan's industrial heart: Noda See in context

In a resource based society, the measure of success would be based on the fulfillment of one's individual pursuits rather than the acquisition of wealth, property and power. If we embrace the concept of a national resource-based economy , learn more about it, and share the understanding , this will help society evolve out of its present state.

@lucabrasi

If you were drowning in a swimming pool, would you be comforted by being told that "...over two-thirds of the planet is covered in water....This pool is only a fragment of the problem!" ?

... drowning relates to inescapable death; whereas radiation leaks, relates to probable adaptation.

These social reformers and think tanks formulate strategies that treat only superficial symptoms, without touching the basic social operation required. Here are some potential clean sources of energy: geothermal energy, underwater turbines and solar energy.

Fact:The radiation that strikes the Earth’s surface each year is more than 10,000 times the world's energy use. And we worry about a leak... This is only a fragment of our real problem!

Even if the children do have a serious "attitutude check", the child consultation center should have motion these two "wanna-be, with no name" to capital punishment for endangering the welfare of these defenseless kids. What on earth is going on here???????

In a country with such abundance, hard to believe stories like this still exist! Any signs of physical abuse? I say the REAL story lies with the 10 year old brother in hope that the medical social services perform a follow up interrogation. I bet the outcome will raise some eyebrows! And, of course, as long as the 10 year old doesn't favor the parents in his confession.

police alerted members of a local hunting club

Some of these guys (hunters) do carry tranquilizers, but WAY too expensive to put in use if they are not guaranteed a restock by the authorities. Sadly, it less expensive the purchase of a bullet (by bulk) than a tranquilizer (special order). Poor thing, sad ending. Ironic how we dare scrutinize the word "extinction" on animals.

Posted in: Air Self-Defense Force officer suspended for filming up woman's skirt See in context

NCO is an enlisted officer of the armed forces. Their system is rather cut and dry - if you belong to the armed forces then the military government have the final say, not civilians - this includes the police. Saying this however, he is completely out of line and caught off campus. Therefore, he should be punished severely with a written report of failure to protect and serve and do confinement quarters, meaning depriving access to the public grounds from 120 days to whatever time alloted, and attend rehab training...it's like serving jailtime with nasty duties!! Unfortunately, the military government will review his profile, if he is a first offender but with spotless military record, chances are he might get what I mentioned and that is the end of it. To me...you do the the crime, you pay the time!!

People, people...Why are you crying? Don't you get it! This country won't go for help! How often do we see that they won't ask questions, they won't share opinions, they won't exercise their rights in public.... I have to agree with you "ratpack" - it's a broken record with no end in sight!!! IT will happen again, again, again, and again, again, again....

All I have to say is - Where is the father role in all this? These Japanese men don't care what happens to their love ones...oh, sorry - love ones is overrated for them!! He's probably laughing his ass off to the bank (I don't mean to sound rude to the victims), but lets face it, these men are useless when it comes to family quality and values. I have seen it and experienced it. My wife is Japanese and my kids are just about to enter their teens. I have seen her act kind of wacky with our kids, but when she losses her temper, I keep cool. I intervene with comments such as: "Hon, you're right, but you need to sweeten your tone. Let me deal with the kids." People, it's that easy!!! My family is the reason of my existence.

The State Department warns against traveling to North Korea. Why the urge to feed more wood into the fire? Hello...lights on, but no one home?! Classical case of a chess game - in for the give and take. North Korea loves having a joy ride on our expense account. For the purposes of fairness, when tax payers money is rendered to free despite the violation (rescue mission?, please!), then tax payers money must be implemented to incarcerate (domestically) for such violation.

Posted in: Osaka man arrested for employing 50 high school girls as prostitutes See in context

Fact: 33% or one-third of the global porn industry is produced right here in Japan. Government regulations? oh, please, spare me the details?

And, forgive my ignorance, but what good serves the purpose of conducting "moral education" as a subject in elememtary and middle schools?

This incident is most likely exposed to the media in order for the government to "save face" and like most cases, it will be all forgotten in due course.

Don't get me wrong people, adults as a society, must respond to any underage child safety and/or welfare threat....regardless of the outcome.
