Posted in: Protests or not, Japanese keep eating whale See in context

Eating whale meat is akin to cannibalism considering that whales are mammals with large brains and are intelligent sentient beings who communicate in songs and live in social groupings. You eat whale --you kill your soul. Go swim with one for ten minutes and then see if you can eat whalemeat!

Athletes says--Whaling is a part of marine conservation. It is also part of marine biological research for updating species data. There is something imbalanced in the cruel & injustice nature. Whaling can be decrisbed as devine intervention for getting balance and order in the Oceans." Wow, I can't believe this kind of thinking is around in the 21st century. Man is the one making the ocean s imbalanced, polluted and Over-fished, Athletes. And Japan is one of the worst culprits at over-fishing everywhere. I was witness to this in Hawaii where Japanese trawlers and fish factories ruined the local tuna fishery, with the help of the Russians in the '80's. Thanks, Japan, for raping the oceans! You need to find other protein sources, folks, and good luck with that...

JJ-That "loon" you refer to, Capt Paul Watson of Sea Shepherd, is the only man, along with his volunteer crew, with enough courage to challenge the illegal and cruel whalers in the Southern Ocean. I agree with most of what you said, however.

That's the "neatest" homeless camp ever...you won't find that in 'Merika. I hope these folks find homes and help soon. Thanks for the Aloha, Shio!

Whaling is murder and you who support it are enablers of brutal criminals. Have you ever spent time with these wonderful creatures? No? Try it and see if you can condone killing them!

Posted in: Tazawa signs 3-year deal with Red Sox See in context

Now wonder the Japanese Pro leagues are irked! They don't even et the young talent for a few years before reed raises it's ugly head. I wish Tazawa well with the Red Sox (I'm a fan) but there is way too much money being paid out to untested players. It's getting too expensive to go to a game because of all this money goin to payrolls.

Posted in: Daryl Hannah makes splash with whale campaign See in context

Heda--whether or not the Minkes are abundant they have a right to their lives and not be slaughtered. Whalers in the 1800's had no idea what they were doing and neither do the Japanese whalers beyond greed. That the Japanese continue this barbarism is to their shame, not humanity. "Harvesting" the whales in the Southern Ocean for "Science" (hah!) is unconscionable torture and murder of an intelligent, social being and the sooner the Japanese people stop these greedy whalers the better. And if they won't, Sea Shepherd will--more power to Hannah for lending her support! They have mine and if I was younger, I'd be down there.

Business as usual. War will continue in Afghanistan/Pakistan after 7 yrs and NO progress, NO capture of Osama bin Laden (he's dead or might as well be, people!) I can't believe some of the naive comments here, Sweat (sic) irony, indeed. That Gates is a close Bush family friend is just scary and telling me that nothing will change in the "culture of Empire USA". Rah, freakin Rah!

Posted in: U.S. missiles kill 12 in northwest Pakistan See in context

USA OUT of there NOW! This kind of outrageous murder should be unacceptable to the American people---Where's the protest, the outrage? Apathy about this endless obscene war is insane. And since Prez-elect Obama seems to be another Dem Hawk about this war, I'm very pessimistic that it will end soon or with any kind of "honor". What a shame and black mark in 'Merikan history...another one. I'm STILL ashamed to be an American citizen in many ways--and this is the main reason. Where is Michelle Obama's outrage now?

Although the CIA may have tried, I seriously doubt that the Dalai Lama would let anyone use him as a pawn. The unfortunate position of the Tibetan people and their culture being subjugated by the Repressive regime of Communist China is deplorable. Let kinder, more compassionate souls prevail.

Posted in: South Africa to sell ivory to Japan, China See in context

Whalebone, Muchogrande? I suppose the whaling industry in Japan is still alive, even after the truth about tax subsidies to the Japanese whalers came out last year. One would hope that the new Admin. will review that with some understanding that it's time for the murderous, cruel whaling to STOP. Let's hope the Japanese people get fed up with the excesses and corruption in Taibbi and elsewhere in Japan. And David, you're reasoning is sound except for one thing--exploiting animals still being poached for human consumption is dangerous for all animals and promotes poaching. Why not educate people to use other materials instead? I love a good carving as much as anyone but not at the expense of a dead elephant.

Posted in: Does the U.S. need to have military bases anywhere in Japan? See in context

Oh, yes--the USA is the "good guys" exporting their brand of fake democracy everywhere. It's called Imperialism and it stinks of world domination. The USA is not "Good"---just rich and powerful and likes to throw it's military weight around for the gain of the corporate profiteers--munitions, supplies for unnecessary troops abroad, all that equipment is VERY profitable. The USA should get its bases out of the worlds business, including Japan's. "protecting the world" is a BIG LIE!

Posted in: Japanese sushi rage threatens Mediterranean tuna See in context

The attitude that we should "just simmer down and everything will be OK" because the market will correct everything is just insane. If overfishing isn't stopped, we will be eating each other a la Soylent Green in the next 20-30 years. See if the "market forces" will correct THAT!

Posted in: McCain denies misstating the timing of Iraq surge See in context

Thank God for video tape so McCain, bordering on dementia, can't keep changing his poor overworked mind and try to yap his way out of yet another stupid, half-baked statement. If you say the lie "The surge has worked and I take credit for it because I know a Colonel in Iraq", over and over, does that make it true? And Sarge, I'm not surprised that you bought into that whole OCS argument. Hahaha, you are so easily duped by the Repub propaganda.

But to the subject--of course the World Court should be able to hold up elected leaders to justice--ALL leaders, including Chinese Communists and USA war mongers. Whether they will have the courage and the political clout to enforce is up to the people of the world--Do WE want justice?

Posted in: The serious crime rate for U.S. service members off their bases is approximately half that of the Japanese population. See in context

No matter what the crime "rate" is, every time a young Japanese girl is raped or assaulted or murdered by an American soldier, another family is traumatized or destroyed. One is too many, and that's an atrocity.

Citing an incredibly foolish and delusional man like George Bush as knowing anything about the science is crazy. All he cares about is the profits his oil buddies make so he can go to his ranch and have happy-crap BBQ's with his conies, who will slap him on the back and guffaw at his cackle and lame jokes, while they count the profits.

"wacko environmentalists" is a term used by morons to insult anyone who cares about the planet. This kind of demeaning crap needs to be called on every time. We won't shut up because you call us names, lie and continue to pollute for greed. Our opinions are backed with facts while you people continue to whistle Dixie while the Earth suffers from people's insistence on greed before environmental responsibility.

It's not just SUV's and AC, Sarge, c'mon! Wolfpack's post is full of factual errors--That 1998 jazz has been disproven (just because one year was colder)and the last I looked the Antarctic ic is still calving and melting...A better term we could use is global climate disruption, which humans definitely contribute to...Who is the group here that are buyin' bullsh*t? Get your facts right before you start attacking people who want to improve the air and ocean quality. Even if Humans can't stop global climate disruption, we could at least stop polluting for our children's sake, you morons. The Earth will sort it out but it's our responsibility to keep it clean. So much greed has people brainwashed. Go ahead and pollute and give the Big Oil co's all your $$! See: http://www.tikkun.org/magazine/tik0807/frontpage/real
