My friend who has died was given a sword from a Japanese Imperial Army Officer as a surrender a year after the war ended. I wonder if his sword is the one you speak of? He kept it hanging in his home for years. He was in the jungle disinturring fellow POW's remains when he was approached by a Filipino telling him of the desire to surrender.
