Yeah... as others have said, it's more fake, sanitized, fantasy-land Edo history-worship... Why can't Tokyo ever just keep the real thing? Tsukiji was interesting, and this is just depressing. Another food court, another boring shopping mall.

Seems many of these passengers could have been rerouted to Narita with minimal trouble to the airlines…

Another thick, boxy, dumb building for Tokyo’s skyline. Why can’t we have any elegant buildings?

Yes! The ski slopes are crowded again and the apres is back in Hakuba again! For those concerned, I've had no stinkeye going maskless on many JR shinkansen train trips the last three weeks. Enjoy what's left of winter!

Posted in: Gov't considers lifting anti-COVID recommendation to wear masks indoors See in context

Anecdote for the demask-curious: living in Minato Tokyo, working in Chiyoda, I stopped wearing a mask indoors (and usually even on transit) around the beginning of December and had no problems so far. I carry one just in case, and I did put it back on last week when I had the sniffles, but if you’re hesitant to take the step, just do it!

also, plenty of Japanese people at Tokyo American Club (where the mask mandate was lifted in September, I think) go without masks. As others have said, it should be a personal choice - if you think it protects you, go ahead and wear it
