Surely you are not questioning David Suzuki's credibility. As for the climate and earth scientist consensus, that is no longer a debate. As the long term trend in global warming and subsequent climate change is accepted science.

If so referencing registered North American carbon energy lobbyist is a failure.

Its called vested interest and the Japanese and English readers here are not that naive.

Appreciate the focus on ownership. Does it change anything? Resources could be joint and shared.

As after all national-transnational corporations their elite executive, shareholders, stakeholders, with financiers stand to make a capital gain either in China or Japan. Why not partner?

As I said before the real question is: should our life conditions be framed in a benefit for the elite?

Oil and gas reserves are the issue, make no mistake and China takes resources seriously. So does Japan with far less resources than China.

nigelboy wrote; " ... 5 islands which are merely rocks around Senkaku ..." If that were true neither China or Japan would be posturing.

After the Japanese defeat in 1945 and US occupation the Islands were left for bombing practice a clear act earlier territorial posturing. By 1972, with the end of the American occupation, the Japanese government resumed responsibility for the Senkakus.

However oil and gas reserves had been identified under the seabed surrounding the islands. Taiwan closest to the islands made a claim to what they called the Diaoyu islands. Then China made claim to Taiwan, with all it's territories inclusive of the Diaoyu islands / Senkakus.

All so national-transnational corporations their elite executive, shareholders, stakeholders, with financiers can make a capital gain both in China and Japan.

The real question is: should our life conditions be framed in a benefit for the elite?

What irony there is in this byline. The best lesson for others affected by nuclear incidents is the media control by government, demonstrating a lack of transparency.

Which is very sad in a culture that once held courage, respect and honesty as among the highest virtues.

As there is little courage shown in leadership, no respect for all Japanese as a clear path of dishonesty is emerging for all affected by the Fukushima Daiichi incident.

FightingViking wrote; " Had the Fukushima Plant been constructed under STRICT BUILDING CODES we may not be in such a scary situation right now... " That is doubtful. As the actual cause of all the reactor failures was loss of cooling from the earthquake before the Tsunami.

Which is why there is contention about the other Japanese reactors. As Japan's other reactors are also are subject to seismically poor locations; ergo no building code on earth could protect a nuclear reactor from being built in seismically flawed locations.

These are highly sensitive critical systems. Any TEPCO assurances are mute as they are a maintenance and nuclear operator corporation. And certainly not nuclear designers and commissioning engineering specialists and never have been.

Integration of microbiota from our environment is now known to be crucial to our bodies equilibrium. Vital for the human immune system and one reason why industrial food corporations try to sell us probiotics/bacteria for our health.

Pathetic really trying to rebalance around 2000 grams of intestinal flora with approximately 65 grams of probiotics. Our intestinal flora comes from the food we eat and industrialised food is barron. Japanese culture is rich in traditional foods that feed our natural intestinal flora.

Interesting, so ingesting radionuclide has been ruled out has it?

From this perspective

Europe, North America

and Japan appear to be wilfully blind to even investigating any correlation.

Health data on ingesting radionuclide is referenced from studies of nuclear bombs used in WWII and compiled immediately after by US Military Bloc in the 1940s.

There is no current independent health data* referencing radionuclide ingestion independent of the IAEA.

CH3CHO wrote; " ... This is what the Chinese Communist Party wants Westerners to report ... " Seriously, China has a communist government? What version of modern history have you been studying?

China is an oligarchy, no one could call the political and social tactics used over the last fifty years communist. All that has changed in two hundred years is the tittles. Titles rearranged within a clever branding strategy used first by last centuries Third Reich, an earlier oligarchy. A branding strategy that has been copied by North Korea, USA, the former USSR / Russia, China and others to hide who is in control.

" ... large organizations (e.g., political parties, bureaucracies, government institutions, and civic groups) tend to become oligarchic as power concentrates at the top, where leaders have access to information and funds and can thereby direct the organization to their own ends ..." Encyclopedia of Political Science [page 1142]

But it is true China is using jingoism^ to project hatred of Japan about legitimate war crimes. Issues that should have been acknowledged but be left in the past. China's strategy not unlike any government today who use of jingoism to manipulate public opinion. A tactic that is allowing government to turn a blind eye to corporate crimes against their own people and earths ecosystem.

As for the feeble semantics argument [Japanese call a "comfort woman" ianfu] ; abuse of women during war is a crime whatever the label. The reality is the systemic abuse of women was military policy and denial of it just makes the culture look unevolved. Which is certainly playing into the Chinese government's jingoistic agenda.
