The puppet of China. If war is ever going to start in S.E. Asia, it will be by China who will manipulate N.Korea into launching missiles at it's neighbors. Why? So China can claim all the oil and gas deposits in the S. China Seas.

Yep. N.Korea is developing ICBMs. China is giving N.Korea food and economic support.

Japan should protect their Senkaku Islands regardless of what the enemies of Japan want. Modern day international agreed upon treaties state that Japan owns the Senkaku Islands since 1895. Screw France, Britain, and Germany who are afraid that China won't loan their country money at low interest rates if they side with Japan.

China always uses that stupid history which doesn't make any difference. They claim that the Senkaku Island belonged to China before 1895. Did you know who owned California before 1848? Mexico. I don't think America is going to give California back to Mexico, just because they owned it before 1848. Using history is not enough of a reason.

What counts is international treaties. Regardless of whether you signed them or not, if you are part of the international community, which China supposedly is part of - unless they are lying again - you have to go along with international agreements set by international laws and regulations.

China isn't going to do anything. The U.S. Military are there with Japan doing joint exercises.

If they do, then the U.S. will retaliate with Japan against China.

Excellent move by Japan and the U.S. You must stand up to a cowardly bully to back him off. China might get angry, but I doubt if they will do anything.

If Japan and the U.S. didn't stand up to China, China will certainly attack the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, Brunei, etc. because China will think they are impervious to foreign forces. Especially vulnerable now is the Philippines.

Absolutely a great move by America!

Here is a news article regarding China's land grabbing:

I don't think that the news person made a mistake. I think she really meant it, but retracted it because too many people outside of China heard it.

Ishihara is doing every right and doing a great job. He has nothing to repent for. The Senkaku Islands belong to the Japanese. It's none of China's business what Japan writes in their history books. It's none of China's business if he wants to visit a war memorial shrine. In fact it is none of anyone's business except for Japan. I hope Japan's government stays right wing conservative. This is what is best for Japan and to encourage stability in the region.

Posted in: U.S. seeks calm over Asian disputes, but won't mediate See in context

China owns about a trillion dollars worth of Japanese bonds. If they sell it, which they have threatened, it would bankrupt Japan. However, Japan owns about a trillion dollars worth of US bonds so if China sells their Japanese bonds, Japan would sell off their US bonds to pay China. The US is one of China's biggest customers. If the US goes bankrupt, China will have no one to sell to. However, China's currency is way undervalued... do you know why? Because if they stage an economic battle like this, the undervaluation would keep them alive and allow for domestic consumerism to replace the international market. China would suffer, but not like the rest of the world.

So do you think it really is a good idea for the US to ignore this situation? I don't think so.

China is nuclear capable. They have done many nuclear tests. So you take a rusty old aircraft carrier, put a bomb in it and sail it to Japan. How is Japan going to defend itself against that? U.S.A. are you listening? Do you see the danger? All it has to do is park the thing right near the islands and detonate the bomb as a show of force. Think about it.

Wait until N.Korea starts launching their Chinese engineered missiles toward S.Korea. Japan has always protected S.Korea from N.Korea military advances because they can react quicker than the U.S. Military. In fact the U.S. Military relies heavily on Japan for military support in that region.

The Cultural Revolution lasted from from 1966 through 1976. Over 25 to 35 million people starved to death for China in a period of 10 years. Now China is starting to change back to a more capitalist economy, but what happened to them socially? Religion is STILL outlawed. Why do you think they are trying to kill the Dalai Lama from Tibet? The Chinese are now greedy, Godless people who want land expansion, wealth, power at any cost. Why do you think they are starting to build aircraft carriers when they didn't need them before? Because they are planning to take back Taiwan, steal islands from Vietnam, Japan, the Philippines, Brunei, etc.

Senkaku is the big test for China. If China gets them, then the new incoming government will learn that Asia will easily be taken over by China. The U.S. won't do anything because in their Chinese eyes, America is a cowardly and ignorant country that has never understood who the Chinese were and who the Chinese are today.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in turn urged China and its Southeast Asian neighbors to resolve disputes “without coercion, without intimidation, without threats and certainly without the use of force.”

Why are American U.S. Secretaries so stupid? They think China is still this Taoist, Buddhist, Confucius, believing soft spoken, kind people. Let me tell you something morons, the Chinese is a GOD less society. Religion is outlawed. Government is religion in China.

Mao's Cultural Revolution ( Wénhuà Dàgémìng ) killed off millions. It's purpose was to destroy capitalism and ALL traditional and cultural elements from Chinese society, and to impose Maoist orthodoxy within the Party. This was done to modernize and westernize China to make it competitive with the world. The last 2 or 3 generations are not the soft spoken Chinese you see on old T.V. shows and movies. They are greedy people with little or no morality - just the idea to win at any cost. They have been know to sell off their own children for profit. They rewrite history regardless of whether it is completely fabricated. That is modern China. That is the modern Chinese people.

@Flyfalcon - Japan doesn't want a trophy island. Japan just wants it territorial rights protected, which was agreed upon by international treaty - specifically the Treaty of San Francisco. If the U.S. does not enforce this treaty then basically Japan will end up selling about $1 Trillion worth of U.S. Bonds. What would be the outcome of that? U.S. Bankruptcy.

@Guru29 - Sorry Guru29 the US and the rest of the international community doesn't recognize any fabricated history that China has made up regarding the Senkaku Islands.

Also neither the Republic of China in Taiwan nor the People's Republic of China in mainland China were invited to the San Francisco treaty negotiations.because neither government was legitimate. ( Commies vs. Nationalists). So anything the current Chinese government has to say about the legitimacy of the treaty is pretty much all crap.

Dara Danh said : If Japan want to exchange blows with China, they should announce any sort of upgrades to their JSDF. Currently, the JSDF announced : 1) Announced decisions regarding buying amphibious assault ships. 2) part of the JGSDF unit stationed in Kyushu are in Guam with the US Marines, learning how to take/retake an island. 3) new radar in Hokkaido.

China already knows that. They have spies everywhere.

People, you have to look at the big picture. If China gets these islands, nothing will stop them from taking Taiwan by force, the islands around Vietnam, Malaysia, and Brunei. It is an exercise to see whether the world will do anything to stop them.

What kind of corny statistics are you stating? Taiwan was already occupied by people before the war. Japan helped the Chinese escape from the Commies, millions of them. They were lucky to have been transported out of China to nearby islands. Taiwan and S.Korea owes Japan for their economic development after WWII that is a fact. No one wants to hear the truth.

Don't be scared of China's threats. They can't afford to break trade with Japan. The number 1 reason? It's because 47% of the male population do NOT have jobs! Japan should threaten to close down factories and manufacturing in China. China will suffer more.

Also if China actually does sell off all of their Japanese bonds, Japan would just sell U.S. bonds to pay for that. That would destroy the U.S. economy. So whose side do you think the U.S. will be on if China actually does anything?

The U.S. military is already moving their forces closer to Asia - even though they say they aren't containing China or taking sides, they are preparing for the worse.

If China does start something, it will mark the beginning of World War III.
