Two things goki (and ants) hate: white vinegar and bleach; use one of those to clean your floors, kitchens and bathrooms and the goki (and ants) stay away! Also, keep your sink holes closed when you are not using them.

Good effort but WAY too busy, too many different fonts (I hate that the article text is in Times New Roman, yuck!)... I'm from the Less is More school of design..... if it was possible to comment with the mobile site, I would use only that, it's simple and you get the articles in the order they are put up, you don't have to waste anytime looking for them...

Why is the machine upside down in this photo? Or will people have to kneel to press the buttons?

It's been three months! How long is the government going to take to relocate these people into proper homes? Anything is better than a gym with hundreds of other people....

He's no longer a rapper but a Hollywood sellout.

There aren't that many musicians that can have a career spanning decades... at least he's polyvalent, and everything he does, he's good at. I love him in NCIS LA!

Well, that's money well spent.

Meanwhile, NPO's in Japan are donating kids' school desks and chairs to the schools districts that were affected by the tsunami because the government isn't bothered to help them refurnish the schools.

What was the name of that Stephen King novel where the car has supernatural powers and decides to kill everyone? Christine?

“I want a relationship with my car in the same way we have a relationship with our friends on social networks,” he said.

Sure mate, whatever you say. Cars for the socially awkward. Just what Japan needs.

Doubt he'll suffer that much,

He was the favorite to win next year's presidential elections, and France's only hope to make sure the right-wing extremists didn't stand a chance, but now all that is gone... so yes he will suffer that much, and so will France!!!

If police had taken that patently appropriate measure, Harada might be alive today.

I would argue that if Harada hadn't killed himself, Harada might be alive today.

So is the idea of contraception.

Posted in: Why did those foreigners who decided to leave Japan in the aftermath of the March 11 disaster come in for so much derision from some people who labeled them with words like 'flyjin?' See in context

Their 'personal choice' impacted others.

I'd love to know how my taking my kids to HK for 2 weeks impacted anyone. Their school was closed and I work from home. Stop it with the generalizations already! Half the people who left are back already...

And then the flyjin feel a little bad because, well yes they left.

No, I'm just annoyed at the stayjins judging (harshly) the flyjins for a personal choice that isn't anyone else's business. Something terrible happened in this country, and instead of pulling together and showing empathy, we are criticizing and throwing stones.

No, I think they were trying to sell newspapers.

Personally my choice to leave for 2 weeks wasn't motivated by newspapers: as a journo, I know to take what I read with a pinch of salt... but as a parent, when I see my kids are freaking out because all their friends have left, including those whose parents work for nuclear companies, my job is to keep them safe but also to make them feel safe. I don't regret my choice of leaving when my embassy recommended its "non-essential" citizens leave Kanto... and I hope I won't have to regret coming back.

They left based on irrational fears and left the non-flyjin to pick up the slack. They should be ridiculed.

On March 15th, Tokyo radiation levels were 23 times higher than normal levels. What's irrational about not wanting your kids to breathe that air?

People who depend on expats to make a living because their business provides specific expat-orientated services will definitely suffer for the next couple of months... some friends who have been living here for more than 20 years and are finding themselves out of work are thinking of throwing in the towel and going home, it's very sad....

Posted in: Trial of Lindsay Ann Hawker murder suspect Ichihashi to start July 4 See in context

There's a guy in my neighborhood that has been following me around for weeks trying to get me to come to his house "for English lessons." I stopped in at the koban to let them know, but they seemed unconcerned as I haven't let him get close enough to touch me yet.

There was a weird guy following the gaijin schoolgirls from the neighborhood to the local intl school (including my kid) every morning; the koban said nothing could be done about it until he did something physically to them...
