Posted in: 24-year-old man arrested over knife attacks in Kashiwa See in context

On Saturday, a woman in Kashiwa was hospitalized after being attacked by a man with a metal bar, and now this. Perhaps those cops patrolling the area and warning people, as mentioned by Sherman, aren't so stupid after all.

Mass suicide? Wow, how did they manage to bury themselves?

Who cares who owns it? BTW, you don't "climb" Fuji, you walk up it. And a pleasant walk it was both times I did it -- a bit nasty on the legs coming down, however.

mjh875k. OK, Rodman is a disgrace to his nation, but one reason that that nation is great is that it doesn't exile people, or worse -- even Nixon didn't murder his uncle! Not only doesn't Rodman know the first thing about diplomacy, he doesn't appear to know the first thing about sobriety or even humanity. Please let the tattooed twit have his 15 minutes, as he'll soon be forgotten.

Isn't anyone in Japan going to mention that this was a free transfer for a 27-year-old nearing the end of his career -- not a brilliant chance for a youngster?

Posted in: Big welcome See in context

This move is a free transfer from Moscow's CSKA (which he joined in 2010), after starting at Grampus Eight and then transferring to the Dutch team VVV Venlo in 2008. At 27, he has definitely reached his sell-by date, and, in fact, may soon be off the shelves.

"Kuzo thought Kentucky Fried Fish matched up to English fish and chips quite smashingly"

I hope Kuzo has tried real fish and chips in Britain, rather than the noxious substitutes in so-called British pubs in Japan, because the description he gives of them here doesn't sound at all like the real thing. I doubt that KFC could actually make a tasty version of anything if their chicken is anything to go by.

Labels saying that the produce was not grown, farmed or caught in the Fukushima area -- but that's probably already happening

I'm amused that my first comment about upskirt photography and the Japanese police bulk-buying this product was removed after 10 minutes because your editors said it was "off topic", when all the other comments on this subject have been about this "topic".

Posted in: Pen-shaped video camera See in context

This kind of product should not be allowed, as it could possibly facilitate ease of clandestine usage in what can only be termed secret pornographic recordings on, for example, trains.

The Japanese should grow up and not worry about visiting countries that hate them. After all, if only visiting countries that like you became the norm, there wouldn't be any British tourists anywhere. The Brits, however, don't care if the natives hate them as long as they can get English beer, milk tea and all day breakfasts.

Posted in: Abe says restoration of sovereignty day signals hope, pride See in context

Before we officially recognise April 28 as Restoration of Sovereignty Day, can we remember that the day after, April 29th (Showa Day), glorifies the Emperor who led Japan into the war that resulted in its loss of sovereignty? Couldn't these two cancel each other out? Or would that merely mean a worse "Golden Week", and, therefore, be "politically" important?

48 kms (means 29.8 miles, not [kps] kilometers per second -- that would be 107,373 mph -- a little beyond even the Shinkansen, never mind the Keiyo Line), and 100kph (kilometers per hour) is 62.1 mph (miles per hour). So, a train traveled for approximately 30 miles at a top speed of approximately 62 mph, with an open door that was guarded by and employee — so where's the story?
