Posted in: Whaling: Why the practice will not go away See in context

High mercury is present in certain type of tuna, dolphins and whales like pilot whales but some in some whales its not a problem. On average, bowhead whales have the lowest mean mercury concentrations—0.02 ppm. This is an order of magnitude lower than U.S. human health thresholds. In comparison when you buy farmed meat they are full of antibiotics and pesticides.

Rubbish article - one sided. I grew up eating whale meat about 2 to 3 time a month. Almost always minke whale. Now its hard to find whale meat, but it is tasty if you know how to cook it. It is a bit oily so we would keep in milk over night before cooking it. But it could become popular once more, specially in restaurants. There is no scientific reason not to hunt minke whale, there is plenty of them in the oceans. The people against whaling are so because it is emotional to them.

There appears to be a strong undercurrent of discontent in the UK that the politicians should not ignore.

And there's an awful lot of unhappy people in the UK who want something to be done about the levels of immigration. I don't think this problem is going to go away until the government starts to address that.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is not addressing the real issue. After the murder of the three girls the police did not give any information. Mr. Starmer did not give any information either about how this could have happened. Everyone just kept quiet. And people got angry. The main stream media is useless in their woke reporting, just as JT is now.

I understand that tourist can pay more if a restaurant wants them to do that. I live in a place where there are 5 times more tourist visiting the town than there are locals. And most tourist are looking for an authentic local experience where the locals like to go and eat. But the problem is that most local people dont feel like going to places that are full with tourists. So what is the solution?

Well done Greenland, no one is above the law. I watched some of the American Whale Wars reality TV series and Paul Watson, Sea Shepherd ship and crew endangered the Japanese ships and the lives of the crew and broke several maritime laws.

Not all young people are passionate about Gaza. But the young people that are passionate seem to be mostly from n-america and europe, what does that tell us? Unfortunately, I think Israel and Hamas (palestine) will continue fighting no matter what other people and countries feel about the whole thing. There no interest to make peace.

Japan should put much more emphasis and investment into energy self sufficiency and energy sustainability i.e. offshore wind turbines and geothermal power. Horizontal drilling can leave certain areas untouched on the surface while using the power below. It should be a high priority national security issue.

Posted in: Israeli forces cut off north Gaza to isolate Hamas as Palestinian deaths surpass 10,000 See in context

There is no will or interest for peace from either Hamas, Palestine or Israel. There are no realistic ways to end the cycle of revenge, violance and killing. No outside country is going to change that. So this is how its going to be for many decades or centuries to come. Its tragedy that religion and soil can make human beings suffer so much.

Posted in: Japan announces sanctions on Hamas-related individuals, company See in context

It is correct action by Japan to sanction Hamas. Hamas is a terrorist organisation. Unfortunately, most Palestinians support Hamas. Also Palestinian supporters around the world have not condemned the killing of innocent children and adults by Hamas. Or condemned the killing of Shani Louk a German woman that where paraded around Gaza by Hamas while Palestinians where spitting on her and later cut her head off. Japan should also condemn the Israeli indiscriminate attack and killings of innocent civilians in Gaza.

JJE

Its a speculation based on facts. BBC news, 22 april 2023: “Why South Koreans want the bomb”. Belarus (true name Belarussia) ask for and got nukes from russia. Saudi Arabia has wanted nuclear weapons for a long time. Iran is developing their own. Are you from a country that has nuclear weapons? If you are, would you support the idea to get rid of them? If not, then why?

Posted in: Expert warns nuclear proliferation could 'spiral' out of control See in context

Many countries are most likely looking into getting nuclear weapons now because of the Russian aggression. It seems that the only way for a country to be safe from invasion from a bigger country is to have nuclear weapons.

Sadly in Japan, physical punishment of children is common. Studies have shown that physical punishment (smacking, shoving and pushing) has been linked to anxiety, depression, substance abuse and antisocial behaviours in adulthood. This need to be addressed and talk about in Japan.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk calls hydrogen "the most dumb thing I could possibly imagine for energy storage." And he is right. Daimler and Toyota should really stop focusing on hydrogen.

Three times more electricity is needed to power a hydrogen truck than a truck with electric batteries. A lot of energy is also lost in production, distribution and conversion to electricity,

Everyone is entitled to dignity and equality, no matter who they are, whom they love, or how they identify. If mixed-race couples were denied the opportunity to marry, and instead offered civil partnership, that would rightly be deemed unacceptable discrimination. The ban on same-sex marriage is equally unacceptable.

"Toyoda said ecological efforts in the auto industry were starting to be appreciated in many nations, but he felt less appreciated in Japan."

Toyoda is right about that!! USA, China and Europe are full speed towards electric vehicles while Japan is not. But Toyota and other Japanese companies could do more in Japan to promote the benefits of electric vehicles.

And please stop using "booth babes" its sexist and old-fashioned. Research shows that women influence 70 to 80 percent of all consumer purchasing. Specifically, regarding car ownership, women influence over 84% of vehicle purchase decisions.

It would be interesting to know if people are hospitalised because of Covid or with Covid. If people are vaccinated (3 or 4 times) but are still at the hospital with covid, isn't safe to say they most likely have underlying condition i.e. cancer, organ failures etc.. and are hospitalised mainly due to these reason, but they might also have Covid. Does anyone know how many are hospitalised or die each year because of influenza or the common flu?

Lets not upset the Chinese Communist Party. The politicians and large corporations should kiss the CCP's aaa..hand. We should not raise a peep about Uyghurs, Tibet, Hong kong protests, coercive population control methods, forced labor, arbitrary detention in internment camps, torture, physical and sexual abuse, mass surveillance, family separation, repression of cultural and religious expression and many other not so important human rights. Well.. because you know we really need to access the Chinese market.
