This is so full of misinformation it's almost funny.
If you cook with 'sake nouveau', you immediately end up with something indistinguishable from mirin, which you could purchase at a fraction of the price.

I would have thought he fled to the Inaka, put on a flu mask, and rode local trains to where ever he needed to go. Its like he wanted to be caught I guess.
You can't hide in the inaka. Everybody knows who everybody else is, and everybody gives strangers a good eyeballing. Not so in the city. This guy was a narcissist who wanted to be free, whatever the cost.
