the point of a wireless mouse is that you don't have as many cords over your desk - so this failure defeats that purpose

Wow, pretty easy to guess which industry paid the author for this glowing review....

clean technologies like wind, solar and electric vehicles

This still makes me laugh. Wind is highly maintenance intensive with moving parts to fail. Solar panels are very chemically intensive to manufacture and thus are far from clean. Electric vehicle still draw their power from coal power plants....

I'm sure there's heeeeeaps of other treasures like this stored away in secret places of the vatican. millions upon millions of (insert currency here) worth, brought back some other countries but i'm it's always 'unclear when exactly then papers arrived in Rome'

. I'm sure there's plenty of movies already out about christians persecuting other religions - also 400-500 years ago....

"base-related crimes such as rape" should not even be real terminology.

YuriOtaniJAN. 20, 2014 - 06:38AM JST Politicians represent the will of the people

Not these days. They represent the will of their buddies with whom they have deep and long term business dealings with - who are usually bankers, weapons manufacturers and "country rebuilding contractors"

Posted in: 'The Simpsons' pay tribute to Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli See in context

looked OK - that short vid didn't make me smile reminiscing about Ghibli movies tho. But then i stopped watching Simpsons many seasons ago so the humour maybe i don't relate to anymore.

If Groening had done the homage in the Futurama universe i might have appreciated it more :)

Posted in: Japan's whisky makers drum up global market for their drams See in context

Suntory's Yamazaki distillery tour is great (halfway between Osaka and Kyoto) Non japanese speakers get an audio device to listen to while the japanese guide does his thing. A couple free tasting at the end of the free tour as well! The photo is of their reference library of whiskies they've made and experimented (saw juniper flavoured on one label) and of other brands

Nikka's tour in yiochi is not quite as well set up as Suntory's (and a bit out of the way) but you still get a few free tastings.

This reader has decided. combinibento, marcelito and star-viking are right on the money

No matter who is the president, nor republicans or democrats - these are some of the most arrogant people alive on the planet. They are playing games with the world's economic stability for their own ends. They will find a deal at the final hour - just like last time, and after they have manipulated markets just how they want and sent billions of dollars into their own pockets - effectively stolen from tax payers

Posted in: Going round in circles: Japan considers introducing roundabouts See in context

Round abouts only work on roads with even amount of traffic. On left hand drive roads - as soon as the road to your right becomes very busy - you are stuck having to give way to every car on that road - until someone come from their right making them give way and you get a chance.

No way would round abouts help anymore than broke traffic lights in earthquake events

Posted in: Australian PM Rudd heads for election wipe-out: poll See in context

it matters not which of these corporate psychopaths gets the job. They are both just trying to line their own pockets, and the pockets of their business partners. (who are usually very similar groups of people, from similar schools and backgrounds)

None of their "promises" will be upheld. Either will continue to screw Australians out of money and hand it to their corporate buddies.

Jay Ovens-Henig is on the money about how to win an election. Buddy up (ie promise huge tax benefits and other bonuses) with whoever controls the media

I can't remember which was my favourite from my last holiday - but i think we went to matsuya the least often. But as long as there's a raw or half boiled egg i'm set :p Will definitely have to try chikara meshi on the next trip to see how grilled beef goes - i don't think they had many stores open last time round.

But i agree, definitely - screw mcdonalds or kfc...
