where I used to live in Tokyo, there was a very old house with the old style plastered outside walls, turns out the couples resided in a house that was passed down 3 generations, a real eye sore, but they did install, brand new shutters on every window, and drove a new benz. You could hear the mother screaming at his mother about something now and then and making loud noises like things being thrown around. The shutters were always closed except the ones on the 2nd floor which provided outside views when needed. BTW they never had guest come by too.
