All the childproofing will not be an apt replacement for parents’ due diligence. Not to say there isn’t room for improvement always, but this could happen on the street, in a mall, anywhere. Please keep a sharp eye on your toddlers/kids. For their sake, and yours.

He still deserve second chance, Japanese media already labelled him with suspect

Why does he? Persons in his position handling others’ money should be a cut above the rest when it comes to ethics and compliance. He’s a thief (subject to conviction) and has been doing this long enough, second chance is not for such cases. His second chance will be the time he does , if convicted.

Defense promises can be a strain on your economy and many American taxpayers may feel averse to such cooperation. However this is a good step for the larger purpose

Posted in: U.S. to change Japan command posture to boost deterrence in face China: Emanuel See in context

I don’t know how much these measures have worked / will work. I only know that China’s an ill mannered bully and needs to be brought in line. I don’t say this to the nice Chinese common people , but to their leadership and Winnie the Pooh in particular

Posted in: Saitama police officer arrested on suspicion of filming up high school girl’s skirt See in context

As a policeman, officer no less, you are held to high standard by society so it’s sad whenever these individuals slide to the other side. It negatively affects the morale of the other diligent officers. Also, it is difficult to fathom what kind of return this kind of activity brings? Is there some kind of underground competition going around? Some will say kink, but I am unable to comprehend.

Convenience store employees have to deal with all kinds of people on a 24 hour basis and like this example shows, some extreme nutcases. Very sad incident.

Posted in: Man arrested for posting 39 threats against Nintendo online last year See in context

If it’s real, nintendo must also be mentally unstable.

It’s a matter of risk assessment. In this case it would go beyond corporate or business risk because they’d say to themselves what if the threat would actually materialize and they’d be on the wrong side of due diligence. So the cancellation would be the most prudent option for the company.

Posted in: Takarazuka theater admits to all harassment claims in death of actress See in context

These letters of apology should be treated as admission of guilt (partial at least, depending on the contents). Any out of court settlement should not be allowed to override the natural course of justice that would have been taken with the information available. This opportunity to make a good example against harassment/bullying should not be missed.

He has a debt of 500 M ? !! Leave alone paying it back, I’m really curious how he got all that money ! And the idea that a toy gun would do the trick is hilarious

Posted in: Woman, parents indicted over beheading of man in Sapporo hotel See in context

a grisly beheading like this could have, or would have, been airly dismissed by the locals as a suicide

I beg to differ but it’s extremely difficult to dismiss a beheading as a suicide. Doesn’t add up …..

Geez! The live video was like a bad CGI version of the 1979 Atari arcade game Lunar Lander.

LOL yes. But it wasn’t really video. It’s a graphic created that moves based on acquired data. It’s called mimic display.

OMG! Fifteen Thousand Tons of Water per second !

OMG!! Till October 15th !! How many seconds are there in 3 1/2 months?

A Trillion Times a Trillion Times a Trillion Times?

I do NOT believe it!!

I like your enthusiasm but it’s not 15 thousand tonnes, it’s 10-15 tonnes per second, probably par for the course for valves of that bore size. Moreover, I do not suppose it will be continuously released 24x7 at that capacity.

For Japan, the largest importer of LNG in the world, the first shipment came in from Indonesia late eighties, I think. Indonesian LNG powered Japan for decades till the Arun and Badak projects ran dry.

Absolute lunacy. School robbed poor kid of one of his proudest moments (that could’ve been). I’m guessing one of two rotten apples in school management and the rest too scared or shy to support the boy. Sigh.

Oh those hideous looking things, if you say you find them comfortable you’re either lying or haven’t ever had a good quality backpack rest on you. They’re in use only because SOME schools require that design. Else there’s no reason for them to exist.

Posted in: Operator of missing Hokkaido boat apologizes for causing fatal accident See in context

"I made the final decision to depart on the condition that the captain make the decision to turn back if the seas got rough,"

I’m 100% confident that’s a lie. The Master (skipper) is the one ultimately responsible for all lives on board and to think that he wanted to sail out while the office boss putting a condition on this would be ridiculous. It would be conflict of interest for both parties. They killed the master, crew and passengers out of greed and negligence.
