"Some see Osaka as a warning for what could happen to the rest of Japan if the crisis worsens at a time when officials — and the world — are focused on the Olympics."

Wrong. The rest of the world could give a s.hit about the Games. The only ones who actually do are certain Japanese Gov't 'officials' and the corrupt IOC.

What's the big deal? Just close the bars and restaurants earlier. That should take of the problem. It's worked sooooo well in the past.

Have the lockdowns worked in the past? One way to define insanity is doing the same thing over and expecting to get different results.

"Spanish flu took six years to disappear so saying covid is here to stay is premature and not based on science or past pandemic outcomes."

Spanish Flu was renamed Influenza A, which is still with us. The stark difference between Covid and Flu is the government doesn't make a big deal about the latter. Namely the US Government and one of its puppet alphabet agencies the CDC.

The Aussies and Kiwis have done an amazing job in containing Covid. It's surreal to watch NRL with the stadiums packed and minimal mask usage.
