Surely this is a bluff rather than an intimidation but still japan must alter the pacifist constitution and build nuclear weapons to gain an edge over china.

It appears the situation is critical yet persistence seems odd because under a signed treaty any foreign conflict on japan could trigger the cooperation and the intervention of the United States Military yet the chinese appear reluctant to appease furthermore this raises the question if china is prepared to confront and triumph over two technologically advanced militaries.

Brutality sure considering bombing cities randomly killing thousands of innocent lives including children is brutal and an act of terrorism, the soldiers deserve such treatment because these are monsters who lost all the main boarders and killing innocent civilians as a retaliation against the rebels.

OssanAmerica there is certain points to reconsider, If the sprately isles are part of the defense treaty, it means the isles are part of japan and fall under the jurisdiction of japan, furthermore that means china's patrol ships trespass national territory which allows japan to defend against all intrusions but that is not the case if so it would create a pretext in favour of china to launch a fall armed assault which renders the stationed united states forces vulnerable.

China is a military super power with economic global influence, even the presence of united state's forces could approve less to deter the asian giant.

Ever since the nationalisation of the sprately isles by japan, compelled china to assert the right of sovereignty and claim to the sprately isles which could escalate to war, japan is in peril if war is to occur.

China is a pragmatic state which means certain issues are postponed or even settled to fulfill important priorities and since both countries economies are interdependent to serve a common purpose, war is unacceptable.

I doubt there would be an escalation of war, it is simply a political stance of both countries since war could ruin the regional economy .
