Posted in: Tens of thousands protest Belgium's tighter COVID-19 rules See in context

These 'protesters', Mostly unemployed drifters, failing university students and diehard anarchists and puppets of the far left or far right and just extending the misery for millions. 90% of them don't even know what they are protesting about. Just happy to go along for the ride.

The other 10% know EXACTLY what they are doing and are very happy to lie, cajole and misinform people to create this destructive behavior. The excuses for not being vaccinated change daily as the anti vaxxers are proved wrong by their continual pitiful lies

One particular poster in this thread spoke before about his obligation NOT to be vaccinated so he could take care of his children and not be a burden on the health system. How will said person feel when a rock or a Molotov Cocktail comes through his window potentially fatally injuring a family member or himself all because of his 'obligations'

On retrospect, happy to be in Japan where such nonsense will not occur and at this point perhaps Japan should consider total closure of its borders from Europe and the US.

Taxes are pretty hefty on the rich in the UK - But no need to subject yourself to double taxation which is the ONLY problem with a US Passport.

Why is that @zichi? Not hurting anyone - Doesn't mean anything outside the Commonwealth.

Posted in: In Tokyo court, 5 ask N Korea to pay for false 'paradise on Earth' promise See in context

@Fighto: Hence I said do a little reading. If you were a Korean left in here in the 1950's unable to get a proper job, or rent a decent apartment and shunned by Japanese society in general at the time, with the information provided it didn't look like a bad deal. Plus they practically begging people to go back. I know you are pressy smart person from your posts, if you are interested give the book I mentioned a look.

South Korea didn't WANT people back as it was an economic catastrophe and a pretty brutal dictatorship to boot at the time. That took a few more years to reverse.

Wrong choice, yes but without the information flows that we take for granted now it was a very different situation.

Suggest some of you read about post war Korean History - the involvement of the Red Cross the the Government here before making flippant comments. Of course they have no chance of actually receiving any compensation - but I'm sure these people will be happy knowing they made a statement. if you don't have any interest in the actual history then I suggest reading 'The Aquariums of Pyongyang'.

It sounds nice but I think most sensible people will realise that these promises are totally irresponsible - but when you have virtually no chance of taking power you can pretty much say what you want. I believe that those with no intention to vote and those who will vote for the LDP make up 80% of the electorate. We also don't know if they are 'better' then the LDP as they've never held power.

Edano is about as electable as Jeremy Corbyn in the UK was. Sadly - watch for the LDP to increase their seat count.

Posted in: Quarantine remains biggest deterrent to air travel See in context

What a strange thread. Luddite IS wrong if what zichi says about her status in Japan is.

She can return now to Japan and with a UK vaccination certificate can quarantine at an address of her choice for 14 days (10 days if she pays for a test and release) and does not need to stay the first three days in a Quarantine Hotel. The correct links have been posted in the thread and I can confirm they are up to date.

Posted in: In your experience, how easy or difficult is it for a foreign resident to obtain a credit card in Japan? See in context

Never had a problem getting a card - applied for my first one 6 months arriving here back in 1992 at the age of 20. That with with Citibank Japan at the time (now SMBC Trust). Amex a couple of years later for the Air Miles/Points and have had a few different Visa Cards after that for the same reasons.

Its ok not of heard of Adele, although on that basis I must assume you have no interest in Popular Music whatsoever. However, she is not a Pap lover and generally keeps a VERY private life, so go easy with the distasteful comments please ShinkansenCaboose.

Correct procedure @Luddite. Especially this year as we effectively bypassed flu last season with all the social distancing in place. If only the crackpot anti vaxxers would act the same and realise its THIS winter that we have to get through to put this to bed.

I was just disagreeing with your "there aren’t any". I realize that the unvaccinated are not the majority in Canada, most Canadians do what they are told and I doubt it has anything to do with "following the science".

That's a little disrespectful to Canadians in all fairness @RawBeer.

I think in all fairness that Canadians are probably just a little more wordly than some elements of the US population and less likely to be influenced by such people as the FLCC and websites such as Bitchute.
